MovieDaddy likedGummoHarmony Korine’s “masterpiece(?)” depicting rural Deep South characters. Makes you wonder if there was a script or if this is a documentary. Hard to watch due to its graphic non-horror visions. Just… very unique to see the least.

to enjoy film is to accept and appreciate it in its rawest and most artistic form. depending on who you ask, gummo is either unwatchable garbage or a true masterpiece, but its bold direction and incredibly impactful aesthetic cannot be denied or understated. not for closed minds

Whoppa Birthday lovedGummoHarmony Korine will never top this. Charming yet chaotic. Funny yet unsettling. Fantastic cast of characters within a beautifully rundown environment accompanied by one of the greatest film soundtracks. An absolute must watch.

Now I realize my confessed appreciation for Kids will thoroughly bugger my credibility in describing Gummo with phrases like “appalling,” “gratuitously cruel,” and “exploitative,” but the unmitigated repulsiveness of this film pretty much rules out all subtler options.

It's an interesting technique -- the blurring of reality and movies -- but Korine's objective is so narrow and mean, and his viewpoint so colored by smug, adolescent condescension, that Gummo comes off like a mean-spirited prank.
