the 7th installment to the 'don't travel with tom hanks collection'
alec 🇵🇸Jul 10, 2020Sturdy stuff, a naval combat movie with an emphasis on tactics and geometry, really just a nuts-and-bolts look at how to sink a U-boat with clean visual lines. Also great: just how damn cool-headed and polite everyone is! Hanx
matt lynchJul 6, 2020At some point in his long and beloved career, Tom Hanks began to transition from America’s sweetheart to America’s serenity. He steeled a troop of soldiers on a veritable suicide mission in “Saving Private Ryan,” remained stoic as Somali pirates hijacked his container ship…

I really enjoyed Greyhound. A straightforward, lean 90 minutes war procedural delivering a solid chunk of tension spiced with plenty of edge-of-your-seat suspense. Nearly every scene is just logistics, coordinates and naval jargon. Extremely effective at what it aims to do,…
NakulJul 11, 2020First of all, GREYHOUND DESERVED A BIG SCREEN RELEASE. Stunning visuals, gripping, a nail-biting edge of the seat thrill from start to end but most importantly, Tom Hank's presence makes this film more exciting.
Vishwas Verma 🟠🟢🔵Apr 11, 2022I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked this movie. Despite the generally bad sheen of Apple TV movies, and one totally superfluous scene with Elizabeth Shue as the gal our hero needs to get home to and marry, this movie was entirely just the perspective of one guy…

joey, you like movies about naval combat? because 'greyhound' is a 91-minute movie, and about 85 of those minutes are naval combat, with torpedos, depth charges, faceless evil nazis on their verdammt u-boats, and countless shouts of things like "all ahead right flank"…
andy levyJul 20, 2020This would be your dad's favorite movie of the year if he had any goddamn idea how to watch it.
John FrankensteinerDec 11, 2025This felt like a forgotten miniseries episode that Spielberg and Hanks somehow produced in some strange parallel universe. There’s a lot here that I love, but just as much that leaves me wanting more. At just under 90 minutes, it is a tightly wound suspense drama adrift in…

Greyhound is a phenomenal action/thriller. I never would have predicted this movie to become ONE of the best and most unique war movies I have ever seen. It may be 91 minutes but it’s none stop action throughout the whole much. The film is unbelievably tense, edge of seat whole 🕰️
A unique and thrilling War film to say the least. Although the plot and acting is engaging enough, the film suffers from its pacing. Moments of tension were quickly diminished and some scenes were just rather boring or uninteresting. Not terrible, just not great. Rating H- 6/10

Incredibly nerve wracking & it doesn’t let up. A 90 minute movie the intensity starts off right away. Greyhounds attempts to protect the convoy when relentless u-boats are actively hunting them while trying to get to air defended waters has you sitting on the edge of your seat!
While the sound design, acting and story were all good, Greyhound really suffers when it comes to its pacing. Sure there are great moments of tension but there was very little relief making it feel somewhat monotonous and a bit boring at times. 6/10

I liked this more than I thought I would. It did feel different because a lot of the time ww2 movies are just always around, but this felt unique being in the ocean, a suspenseful story of perseverance and not too long of a movie.
Great movie really exciting and shows the horrors of “modern” WWII ship battles and struggles with UBoats. Good movie not Oscar worthy despite the nomination but I guess some will disagree. Tom hanks is very good.
