Atom User Reviews for Fragments of Truth
Great film. Production and filming was top notch - the director deserves recognition for a quality film. Impressive also was the line-up of top published scolars interviewed in the film, including heavy weights Dan Wallace and Michael Heiser. Craig Evans does most of the talking in the film which is good, as his style came across as both scholarly and trustworthy. But you might say the real stars were the fragments and ancient manuscripts that are filmed up close and personal. It made me wish I was young again with an opportunity to study ancient languages and the field of NT Criticism. But in the end, we have this film maker and these scholars, as well as those that went on before them, to thank for providing this witness to the Holy Scriptures we have in our hands today.
One cannot come away without many concepts to consider. Very well done. If only the many, many untouched “volumes” could be dealt with.
Great information which is very much needed! I wish I could have taken notes or had some info written to use when taking with skeptics!
Very dry presentation. Content informative but it didn't have to drag out so much. I fell asleep one time.
I liked the way the information was presented. And seeing all the Fragments and manuscripts.
Bor ing much repeating pictures and dialogue
1. Great if you're interested in learning about where the New Testament came from. 2. Not a good idea if you have little background in Roman and Greek history from the life of Christ to Constantine. You'll want to know places and terms like Alexandria, Antioch, bishops. 2. Sometimes the dialogues got a bit long and though they worked hard to bring the arguments down to a lay-men level, there were a couple that they failed in their attempt. 3. I'm a bit nit picky here but Constantine did not make Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. That was Theodosius.
The research is excellent and the conclusions are well-founded.
Many things I did it know or think about. Great and research was awesome
A lot of information I did not know. The fact that manuscripts could be in use for a hundred years or more was significant.
Excellent! “the truth will set you free”
There was so many things that I didn’t know about the origin of the Bible.
Awesome and informative! Increased my faith.
Who knew? Many ancient text were used for well over a hundred years! This was due to the material from which they were made and due to the reverence with which they were treated. We’re not taking our paper made from wood pulp but rather papyrus.
Great, accessible presentation of the trustworthiness of the New Testament. Fact-based and lots of details. Recommended for skeptics.
Fantastic
Very informative and something everyone should see
Great film. Well researched and informative.
Very insightful. It pretty much fell right in line with my Christian Evidences 1 and 2 course work.
The first 40 minutes were adds. Very poor The info was great but the above ruined it
Very informative and educational.
The leap at the end, that it is intact as it was written, does not take into account what the Catholic patriarch did to the books explaining the mysteries. It was stated that the books of the New Testiment were the ones everyone agreed upon. That lacks deeper consciousness and perspective of the patriarch that limits us to this day. Some of the earlier books were written by women.
Glad info like this is being put out there but it was mostly the same info already presented. It seemed like a half hearted attempt from Baptist seminarians rather than theologians, Bible scholars, or archeologists...The experts didnt seem very knowledgeable and so werent very informative. The quality of info I received from Case for Christ, though different topic, was much better, because of the rigorous research from experts.
Very well done, but would have been great if some mention of Catholicism and the disparity between the Catholic and non-Catholic Bibles (i.e 73 vs. 63 books)
Great info! Well worth time and money for anyone wanting to learn more abour the reliability of the NT.
Thankful for the labor of love these people have given us for the Bible .
Well conceived and presented. A lot of info to take in but exceptional content! You need to see this and take a few friends with - especially those who may be doubting or are skeptical of the authenticity and truthfulness of the New Testament. WELL worth your time!
Provided the ammunition to fight the good fight and never lose faith in the Word of God. It is historic, reliable, and trustworthy.
Didn’t understand why the lights were on the whole time
Amazing and very informative. Physical proof of the firm foundation on which today's Bible is built.
A lot of, but certainly not all, of this information is in the book Cold Case Christianity by J Warner Wallace
Well produced and extremely insightful. However, there were a few occasions where prior information was repeated, such as in the codex timelines.
The Q & A afterwards could have been skipped. Too much!
This is stuff that every Christian should know. These are foundational blocks for our faith. The Bible is the very essence of our faith and we should be able to know and relay to others why we trust the Bible.
Excellent --- very informative
I found it to be very informative. I would definitely recommend those who are questioning the Bible’s validity, and even those who do not, to watch. Learning the history helped me to better understand.
Great information, but often the scholarly verbiage was so thick that it was confusing to a layman.
Very good and updated information.
Compelling!
one of a kind.
Best Movie experience ever!
Outstanding! Extremely well done in every way; cinematography visually stunning! In depth yet understandable information left us excited about the historicity of the Bible and edified by seeing it. Further affirmed our faith. Highly recommend!
Nice to see the libraries and beautiful locations. Really solidified my understanding of early transcripts!
Excellent content. The resolution of the picture appeared grainy, almost standard def in places. I was expecting a 4k quality picture. Otherwise the content and presentation were first rate.
Informative, especially the idea that the autograph originals may have existed for hundreds of years.
Excellent and a must see for anyone interested in the background of the Word of God.
Every Christian needs to see.
