A more grounded, Cold War-inspired tone to Bond, focusing on espionage over spectacle. It’s well-paced, well-shot, and shows a more serious side of Roger Moore’s Bond, making it one of his stronger entries in the series. Rating: H- 9/10 L- 8/10

Not as goofy as the previous one with a more serious tone. I liked the plot better because it was more engaging than being a parody of itself. Overall one of the better old Bond films in the franchise.

The 12th James Bond film goes through the motions, but not only are we tired of them, the actors are tired of them - even the machines are tired...The producers have made the mistake of deciding on a simpler, more realistic package, without dazzling sets or a big, mad super villain.

Moore just looks confused. He obviously wants to do his thing then hit the bar for cocktails, but John Glen is nagging him to add a roughness to the slick exterior. Equally, it just doesn’t fit. The news is clear, there’s only so far you can push a Bond before it breaks.
