Twentysomething angst via operatic gothic melodrama. It rules.

no one in this movie wants julia roberts to flatline because she’s too beautiful
sarah squirmOct 19, 2026The concept is pretty neat, but the plot is pretty flat. It didn’t dive enough into the supernatural element, and the main idea of people being haunted by those they wronged was unexciting. There’s so much you could create about the afterlife, and they managed to come up…
mannySep 27, 2017Everybody betting on how they can flatline for like two or three minutes when I'm over here flatlining for all 115 of this!

Very silly in parts and it lacks a certain oomph but I'm just a sucker for these kinds of stylized movies. Flatliners is a perfect lazy Sunday afternoon watch in my opinion, especially one during the fall season. I will definitely revisit this around Halloween. Another fun…
Lou (doesn't rhyme with booh! 👻)Sep 17, 2022it's both the best and worst idea a group of medical student can have
Pauline 🍒Jun 30, 2021Finally, after years of listening and reading reviews on this film, I got to check out another film that illustrated the fact that Joel Schumacher was deeply embittered by the Hollywood system when it came to the Batman movies. I believe that if the opportunity had been…

I enjoyed how you had to find out the details as you went along, it kept the story moving, and the comedic stuff balanced out the more dark parts. The characters seem a bit off when put together, only bc there was no clear dynamic in there, making it unpredictable. Good watch tho
Arsal likedFlatlinersThe atmosphere carries the film. Its sterile medical setting contrasts well with the creeping supernatural elements. The idea that death remembers your sins is haunting. It’s introspective & eerie, tapping into fear of unresolved guilt and consequences that refuse to stay buried.
Muttagenic lovedFlatlinersI have nothing but praise for this movie. Maybe it’s my affinity for undefinable almost paranormal forces of nature (see Final Destination), but this exploratory narrative about manifestations of guilt deep in the psyche is nothing but exceptional. My fav part? The lighting!!!!!

Samuel Gutierrez lovedFlatlinersactually really liked this movie. julia roberts and kevin bacon def stole the show acting wise. but the cast as a whole was good. i rlly like how it alludes to the existence of an after life and uses the name of jesus christ in the when they save him. def worth the time. 8/10
Nick Dubberly is "meh" onFlatlinersFirst of all, this cast is absolutely stacked with 80s stars. It’s a typical 80s/90s thriller/horror film with everything you’ve seen from other similar films. It doesn’t really break any new ground or anything, but it is entertaining.
Eye Cinc lovedFlatlinersOne of my all-time favorites. A movie that presents an ethical, theological, philosophical, and scientific dilemma, all adorned with a totally dark and intimidating nineties atmosphere.

I really liked this movie! It was tense, intriguing, and the little details really made it amazing! Plus, the cast was absolutely stacked, and Julia looked STUNNING, as always.👏🏻
CvptvinHowdy likedFlatlinersIt was a great thriller with this premise and cast, but it felt like something more was needed. It's still a great concept that keeps you engaged.
Aleksandra Nerodenko lovedFlatlinersJust cool film about “what happens after death”. Just cool with a great ending, the logical ending and transformation of characters is incredible

It's much to Schumacher's credit that Flatliners, for all of its crazy excess, does not turn into camp.

Flatliners is an original, intelligent thriller, well-directed by Joel Schumacher. I only wish it had been restructured so we didn't need to go through the same crisis so many times.

You may go into Flatliners hoping for a psychedelic mindblower, but the film is about as exciting as staring at a lava lamp for two hours.
