Atom User Reviews for Fathom First: GOLDA
I remember this being played out. Could have gone another way. The odds were against them.
A must see!
Mirren was exceptional.
Excellent profile of a leader and mesmerizing behind-the-scenes revelations.
A good historical drama. Mirren was great. Storyline a big ragged in parts.
A powerful film that smoothly integrates actual footage from the time. We not only learn details about the Yom Kippur war in 1973, but we see the personal story of this time in the life of Golda Meir. Helen Mirren is superb in this role.
Excellent cast, well acted
Oscar worthy performance by Helen Mirren. Great docudrama of the Yom Kippur war which occurred when I was too young to understand what was happening.
Wonderful story of how close we came to losing the war.
Great great movie
Phenomenal and powerful docudrama of the Yom Kippur War! Oscar worthy performance by Helen Mirren as the Iron Lady of Israel. Director Guy Nattiv certainly deserves Oscar on this one too.
50 years on, and in major need of discussion in retrospect, an important film and focus on this horrendous war of Israel’s survival highlighting Israel’s vulnerability rather than its bravado. Golda was a very complex character, and though she was cleared of direct responsibility for National negligence, many heads rolled under her premiership, some taking the fall for her. Mirren is terrific.
You live the tension of the Yom Kippur war along with Golda.
Learned so much about Golda and the Yom Kippur war that was not in the headlines.
Incredibly powerful
