Synopsis

Ben McKenzie explores cryptocurrency in his directorial debut, moving from curiosity to exposing harsh truths. His documentary both educates and entertains while delivering a powerful critique of the crypto world.
Moviegoers are saying
Ben McKenzie's cryptocurrency exposé documentary has audiences praising his unexpected charm and investigative prowess while critiquing crypto's fraudulent nature, though some find his 'learning in real time' approach overly simplistic. Shot over 4+ years, the film captures spectacular moments like interviewing crypto CEOs who later go to jail, with the Sam Bankman Fried interview being a particular standout.

This film really turned my head around on the crypto crisis and made me more skeptic than fanboy. Ben is a likable everyman, leading the doc narrative with common sense Al dissection and a moral poise that seems more and more foreign, and elusive, as the days and weeks go…

Excellent documentary. Well structured, very informative, and surprisingly funny. I love the way Ben can never shake The O.C..* "Are you mad at him for this, or because he's more famous than you are? He might be taller, too." Morena Baccarin is the real hero here. Putting…

Oh, look at me I'm Ben McKenzie: I'm incredibly charming and attractive, I'm a successful and beloved TV actor, I'm married to the beautiful Morena Baccarin, I've got a loving family, I'm a talented outspoken critic of the fraudulent nature of cryptocurrency both in book…

I've never agreed with a movie more and liked the final product less. McKenzie is likable but I wish the film respected the audience's intelligence a bit and dove down into the specifics of Crypto as opposed to just graze the surface and rely on the shoddy "I'm learning…

That title is very, very true. The film's okay. A little aimless. A bit of a vanity project. But it does make some solid points about the ways the cryptocurrency movement has been sold to people.

Great respect for Ben to dedicate the time and resources to tell this story and share the stories of others. I only wish people would process it especially those in our government. Sadly there will always be scam artists and grifters and we’re in a golden age of fraud.

A very interesting doc. This tells us many different side of the crypto trend and in the end allows the watcher to decide if crypto if for you. Well developed and brilliant talking points. I enjoyed this film.

It’s an electrifying watch in its profound discomfort, and a testament to McKenzie’s ability to disarm with a smile, then land a righteous blow against the bad guys.

McKenzie may frame the journey with some bemused curiosity, but the movie lands somewhere much angrier than that. Fair enough. A system this shady doesn’t deserve awe. It barely deserves the dignity of confusion.
