No words to describe the experience of seeing the 40th Anniversary Re-release of ET in IMAX. Complex, layered storytelling that only young Spielberg could do. A slow build movie that relies on emotions instead of special effects that gives us one of the best cathartic payoffs in cinema history in the last 10-15 minutes of the movie.
Love, love, love this movie!!! Man the memories, I tried so hard not to cry, though my emotions got the best of me. When ET purrs like a kitten, how can you not??!! They just don’t make’m like this anymore…
The film's real power to move flows from its low, childlike angles, which, rather than infantalize its audience, bring it down to where the hurt and fear, and hence the comfort, loom larger. [2002 re-release]
