the 9/11 movie we deserve!!!!!!!
sarah squirmSep 8, 2021The baby gazed upon Snake Plissken, and lo she was entranced.
Sean FennesseyApr 19, 201989 4K Restoration Hardly has a pulse. Exists between fire and rain, light and dark, howls and stark silence. Runs on its own synth drip. Not even really an action movie, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

what is this, some kind of suicide squad?
JayJun 11, 2017One of my favorite scores in the history of filmic music composition.

Ernest Borgnine :)
demi adejuyigbeMay 17, 2022I swear if anyone else had that shitty snake tattoo on their stomach they’d look like a total dork, luckily Kurt Russell is the coolest man alive so he makes it work

It was alright, the fighting was kinda bleh but they did have a cool little fighting ring scene, cool concept but just lacked something Also I think this might be the first time i’ve watched something else Chef from South Park was in so that was a cool little thing to catch
I believe this is John Carpenter’s Most Underrated Movie that needs more attention. Kurt Russell is great as Snake…..I mean Plissken……Snake, Plissken, Snake, Plissken. Sorry about that, you will understand that and why this movie is underrated when you watch this.

Pretty good Carpenter film with amazing music and fascinating, bleak alternate-historical backdrop imagined with potent mood & immersive detail. Not a new favorite, but a good movie. Kurt Russell is enjoyable as an 80s anti-hero. Poses interesting questions.
Grimy, moody, and iconic. Carpenter builds a dystopian hellscape on a shoestring, and Kurt Russell's Snake Plissken oozes antihero cool. It’s rough around the edges, but the atmosphere and attitude are unmatched.

Very cool and entertaining 80s action film from the legendary John Carpenter and starring the badass Kurt Russel. Fun fact the guy who wrote this together with Carpenter is the original Michael Myers.
Finally watched this peak. I can’t believe it inspired Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake. That’s crazy. I was literally shocked. John Carpenter and Kurt Russel cooked once again. 9/10.

Boasting one of the most iconic characters ever in Plissken, and an effective sci-fi set-up, this is entertainment of the highest order.
It's a toughly told, very tall tale, one of the best escape (and escapist) movies of the season.
Escape from New York isn't really science fiction -- it's an action flick set in a futuristic setting. Epic potential for a masterful, gripping tale is abandoned in favor of cheap thrills.
