Proper health care is science fiction to Americans.

adamboltNov 4, 2023reading all the reviews on here for this from 10 years ago is a real barometer for how much people took original sci-fi films for granted during the early 2010s -- elysium, edge of tomorrow, oblivion, audiences in that era were awash in genre riches compared to today, where…

Everything is a caricature, the editing is nauseating, and everyone is competing for the overacting award— but it’s original, which keeps it somewhat interesting. At the very least, Blomkamp commits to the world he’s created, even if the world building is half-baked and…
Joe AAug 10, 2013This is the most disappointed I've been with a movie in a long time. Elysium is a mess, plain and simple. It had so many great ideas and talent at its core, and it squanders it all. It features an extremely lazy screenplay, poorly developed characters, terrible…
Daniel KibbeAug 7, 2013either a dull, dreadfully told and politically asinine blockbuster *or* the most mind-blowing documentary I've ever seen. seriously shameful storytelling here. neat tactile design does little to compensate for pathetic world-building / a complete lack of…

Definitely could’ve been executed better. Was very excited for the concept(huge dystopian fan) but was extremely let down with the choppy cinematography and mediocre story telling.

great memories from what I recall, matt damon is such a great actor. The plot is cool, not much more things to tell. Solid 6/10
It looks great but it's empty. The casting in general was a mistake. Jason Bourne is great but in this? A pampered white saviour. The story has been told 98380 times before so the predictability was very predictable. I expected some plot twists and a few of them caught me off guard but the majority…
It was alright. Story started off strong but felt very rushed in the second half. Movie looked great visually and the action was solid... just wish the story got fleshed out a bit more. Villains were pretty terrible - they had no real motivation to behave the way they did.

A great concept that loses steam about halfway through due to weak character development and lack of commitment to thematic motivation. A film that could afford to be about 25-30 minutes longer. Although visually rich designs and kinetic cinematography save this film
Theirs a lot going for this movie. Damon and Jodie Foster are always good and theirs a decent story and script and it’s definitely worth a watch but you feel it could have been even better. It’s still interesting and fast and paced with great CGI
