Ten years ago, Carson and I would bail on our respective college friends to go watch movies at the Harvard Film Archive. We spotted each other every time because we were usually the only people there under the age of 50, but we never spoke. Three years would pass before I…
NateMar 31, 2025I played softball at a park in Toronto every Saturday at 2 with the same basic group of people for about eleven summers. Some local film and film festival people but also neighborhood guys, roommates, partners, bar patrons, stragglers who become regulars, friends of…

I strongly suspected I was going to love this as soon as I heard what it was about, and I was right. Life is spent watching all of the people, places, and things you love but take for granted disappear. What a great movie to spend time in. Brought back fond memories of…
Will SloanJun 5, 2025One day the game will end. The sun will set. The park will close. Sometimes you don’t even want to play. Other times it’s all you can think about. You used to pitch a 90 mph fastball, now you can only pitch the eephus. But just because it’s slowed down doesn’t mean it’s not…
Joe AMar 23, 2025I can’t remember the exact wording of it, but a tweet that pops into my mind every so often and makes me laugh is that one about how men invented online gaming in order to have an excuse to talk to each other on the phone for hours at a time. I sort of feel similarly about…

Yes I DID relate a lot to the movie about guys putting way too much effort into something that doesn’t actually matter at all
Patrick WillemsOct 25, 2024To see the amount of love this film is getting from letterboxd users and the Critical Elite alike really warms my heart. I was the set decorator and prop master on this, and it's the only time I've ever worn a baseball glove at work. We didn't have stand-ins (if that's who…

Funny, sad, and incredibly charming, highlighting the importance of simple things in life
Watching a bunch of (mostly) old guys play a baseball game that lasts all day isn’t really my idea of a good time. It was just too long and drawn out that I couldn’t wait for someone to win so the game would finally be over. This one definitely struck out for me.

Hilarious, beautiful, heartfelt. Just one final game with the boys. Felt very Wes Anderson meets Coen brothers in tone and look. Loved it.
I dont even like baseball but this is one of my favorite films immediately after watching. 10/10
