They broke the curse of the D&D movies. This one will apeal to gamers and non gamers.
Full on fun fantasy adventure. It brings all of the elements of D&D to the screen and not in a way that will make people who have never played the game feel like they are missing out. But for any of you that have played it will feel like a story put together by a great D&D Master. And Hugh Grant is amazing as the slimy guy as he always nails it whenever he is in a movie.
This movie was so action-packed and absolutely hilarious! I’ll be seeing it again when it comes out. The cast and storyline couldn’t be any better.
clearly made by lovers of the game but fun for everyone!
We all enjoyed it, from the D&D player to mom and dad!
Great up until CC device stopped receiving signal
Movie was great, but Rege Jean Page wasn’t in it enough.
Only downside is it's a little fast paced but it is necessary to have a full story in an epic world like DnD. A lot of nods and references, and amazing visuals. A lot more humor than I expected, and an awesome and diverse feeling cast that all brings their own style to the story.
A very funny enjoyable movie. Really enjoyed to visuals and interaction between characters. #chubbydragon
Loved it. Will need closed caption at home to get all the dialog but visually it was stunning and so much fun.
A excellent movie to watch even though I don’t play the game.
A GREAT fun movie for everyone. Action comedy, nods to the original D&D cartoon. An enjoyable fun move. Definitely a must see
something new and fresh...
What a wonderful film. It really balanced giving Easter Eggs and inside jokes for long time gamers with a broad reaching story. It was both humorous and heartfelt. Just a great time.
I didn't know anything about DND but this was amazing. loved the storyline and loved the cast.
Very enjoyable fantasy movie. Excellent CGI and lots of humor thrown in with the action. Recommend!!
Great movie, fun and adventurous. I’m not a fan of the game. It was entertaining and made for everyone to see.
ok ok. as an old DND gamer, I gotta admit it was a good movie. Only a couple of issues, but good otherwise
Very funny and enjoyably entertaining movie
First off big shoutout to Amazon for letting us get a first look at the movie before anyone else. The movie was pretty good. Had some solid jokes and actually had more action than I thought it would. Visual effects looked good too, overall I’d give it a solid 7.5-8 out of 10.
a surprise to be sure but a welcome one! A fun sword and sorcery adventure even if you know nothing about DnD. Even more enjoying for those who know and like DnD. Nice to see Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez in a good role. they can make another anthology movie in this universe, and I'll go out n see it!
This was a really solid movie it keep my attention!
Fantastic Flick!!! A must see for any D&D nerd like myself!!!
Great movie, everyone loves a good action adventure and this does it.
Never played D&D, so I probably missed those nuanced references, but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. Gave me 80s fantasy flick vibes with that modern film making touch. Great cast, humorous, and just plain fun to watch. Though it doesn't directly setup a sequel, I hope this is the start of its own series
Absolutely hilarious!
Great fun for the whole family!
My group and I had a great time! We all enjoyed it!
Definitely could afford to cut out an hour and have the same story. Feels like a TV series crammed as a movie.
Everything I knew it would be; appeals to those who know dungeons &dragons and those just hearing about it.
Really funny and entertaining. And really funny.
NO bad - seemed to capture some of the feel of playing a DnD campaign which I enjoyed.
Suprisingly great! It's a live action Vox Machina in terms of tone and quality.
What a surprise!!! I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would! The D&D curse has been broken! A lot of fun and a great movie for Fans of D&D as well as people who know nothing! Recommend for everyone! Great Surprise!
Fantastic movie with a great cast! I will definitely see it again!
very fun movie definitely in the spirit of the game
Awesome script and actings!!!
Loads of fun and exceeded expectations.
Fantastic movie!!! Great for everyone! Funny, lots of action, and best of all… Heart.
It was way more than expected and it didn’t disappoint. Hoping to see more movies under this franchise. Everyone at my theater was having a good time and enjoying the movie. A lot of funny moments and action. Great Job
enjoyable for my whole Family.
Absolutely LOVED this movie!! I already am planning to see it when it premieres. Thank you to Amazon for letting me see it early, and to everyone for such a fantastic movie that not only was stunning from the cast to the visual effects, but the mere fact it was PACKED with Easter eggs that were true to the Dungeons and Drangons Game. From the Original, Mazes and Monsters, to the latest edition.
A few pacing issues, but other than that it was great. It was just a lot of fun. As a D&D nerd it hit all the spots! Easter eggs, accurate spells, and even some guest appearances by big NPC's. Can't wait to see it again!
Great movie! Packed theater! Will see it again with the kids. They love D&D!
Our whole DND group went to see it and all of us loved it! Great for DND players but also would be fun if you don’t know anything about DND!
My daughter and I both absolutely loved it! It was funny, emotional, action packed...just a great movie all around!
Some really funny moments, (Although a few jokes and gags were pretty much ripped out of Marvel movies) great action sequences, impressive visuals, cinematography and special FX. The story was a little predictable and the movie was maybe 15-20 minutes too long but generally speaking the pacing was solid. Would strongly recommend for any fans of the fantasy genre.
Great movie, fun for everyone
Enjoyable. Chris Pine made a great D and D Star Lord. Good humor and special FX throughout. Owl-Bear was great.
great family movie
Metacritic
The film’s set pieces are built around comedy, with bits of (cleverly choreographed and directed) action and suspense to add some urgency, not the other way around.

Co-directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, working from a script they penned with Michael Gilio, have struck the right balance between high-stakes action, warm drama and clever comedy in a consistently engaging, mostly family-friendly romp that features some of the most spot-on casting of any film so far this year.

Honour Among Thieves could have tidied away its plot more economically, but the leisurely pacing does allow us to connect with the surprisingly fleshy characters. It is no mean feat to make something so funny from such unpromising material. It is more impressive still to end on a genuinely moving note. A welcome surprise.
