sanOct 6, 2019The long stretches of white noise are what really sell this film for me, weirdly enough. It’s an unintentional outcome, since early sound films predate a lot of the music cues we’ve been conditioned to expect, but the absence of a rousing score during pivotal scenes made…

Imagine me watching Frankenstein and Nosferatu very close together and finally getting round to watching possibly one of the most influential movies of all time and it being an absolute massive disappointment as the characters aren’t endearing not to mention it’s poor pacing 5/10
so beautifully eerie, i love how dracula can so seamlessly go from incredibly charming and alluring to creepy and malicious, such a great film, i loved dracula, renfield and mina very much, the story was told so wonderfully

A sublimated ghost story related with all surface seriousness and above all with a remarkably effective background of creepy atmosphere.
was utterly confused when they called him mr. renfield. so i assumed this was going to be a movie on how dracula became renfields master. no. they’ve just mixed it up. the pacing is fairly quick to follow but if your a lover of the book as i am you can see the missed opportunities.

Despite Lugosi being known for the role of Dracula today, he wasn’t the 1st choice. Lon Chaney was the 1st choice but before getting signed on for the movie, Chaney died of a throat hemorrhage. Chaney’s death affected Browning so much that cinematographer stepped in at times.
Iconic as all hell and a landmark in Universal Monster films since it started it all. Bela Legosi is iconic in the role and it’s an acceptable way of telling Stoker’s story. In the better quadrant of Universal Monster films, it’s no Frankenstein or Bride of Frankenstein.
