“i'm sorry too, dimitri. i’m very sorry. all right, you're sorrier than i am! but i am sorry as well. i am as sorry as you are dimitri, don't say that you're more sorry than i am because i'm capable of being just as sorry as you are! so we’re both sorry, alright?”

The inevitable has occurred: I've watched a hugely popular and acclaimed film and come away scratching my head, wondering what on earth is so special about it. But don't revoke my Letterboxd membership just yet: do me the favor of hearing me out first. Dr Strangelove is…

cinéfila... 🕯️May 16, 2020Absolutely outstanding farce. Like a slow-motion screwball. George C. Scott and his faces absolutely run away with this thing. Was about to say Peter Sellers was doing incredible work as Mandrake and I didn’t even realize he was also playing the President & Dr. Strangelove.…

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying about my Cinephile Credibility and Accept not Every Kubrick Film Will Blow Me Away or Strongly Resonate with Me
nightofthecreepsThis is one filthy movie. I know I'm far from the first person to notice this, but, boy, is it ever obvious today. An opening scene of planes copulating. Then we meet General Erection post-coitus. Ripper explains he is afraid of his fluids being taken from his…

Quite frankly the greatest movie of all time. No further discussion.
Greatest scene in cinema is when Major King Kong rides the nuke
This movie has so many iconic scenes and lines, and caught me off guard by how genuinely funny the film is. This movie has also made me feel dumber than any other movie I've watched because I didn't realize Peter Sellers was playing 3 different roles. 9/10

Rewatched this for the first time in 30 years. I know it is a classic so it’s for that going for it. But tbh I’m not sure if it really held up. I did laugh in a few parts. But watch it for its political commentary not its humor.
This was a super enjoyable movie. I loved the concept, and I think everything that it had to say about war was super interesting and relevant even today. The characters were fun, the situations were interesting, and the conversations that people had were just really rich and fun to watch. I had a…
an early work of mastery from genius stanley kubrick. some subject matter i did not quite comprehend but the perfect performances, writing, aesthetic, and music work wonders. simply gorgeous visuals, inspiring some great modern works; such an incredibly bold and interesting film

Just as poignant today as it was in 1964, Doctor Strangelove is a brilliant, darkly comical piece of satire. The ending of this film may be one of the best ending sequences in all of cinema. What can I say that hasn’t been said already? Watch the movie for yourselves! 9/10
88/100. An utterly amazing movie in my opinion, and scary to know that it isn’t entirely impossible, especially today. Very funny in a lot of places and the acting is superb, especially for a movie this old. I do think it could have been extended and made a bit longer.
I have literally no idea what I just watched 🤣 I didn’t realise it was meant to be a comedy, think some of the jokes were lost on me. I think it’s a great concept but just missed the mark for me. Peter Sellers was a surprise tho playing multiple characters

Kubrick's great 1964 tragicomedy about superpowers on the nuclear brink continues to fascinate new generations of moviegoers, as its frequent reissues attest. A genuine classic.
