antonio banderas and salma hayek holding hands and walking away from an explosion as their hair blows in the wind is what movies were made for
zoë rose bryantOct 12, 2014Way before Rodriguez only made silly cartoons, he made slightly less silly cartoons that were fun because of fun not because of an obsession with his own style. Two things though: - Tarantino telling that joke. - Salma Hayek crossing the street. Two very…

A violent and funny action extravaganza. It’s got a wafer thin straightforward revenge storyline, however what keeps you hooked is Robert Rodriguez’s direction, cinematography, music and a solid performance from Antonio Banderas. The action choreography deserves a special…
Michael JamesJan 17, 2022Action! - Three Auteurs: El Campamento De Robert Rodriguez Even though it is often billed as a sequel and several narrative threads seem to indicate this, it is impossible to see this as a remake. I mentioned in my previous review that Gallardo and Banderas are night and…
Rafael "Mister Movie" JovineOct 14, 2024John Woo's romantically balletic slow-motion squib-heavy destruction was always clearly informed by his Peckinpah cinephilia, so it was only natural that at some point he would inform a genre geek who wanted to make a violent low-budget neo-western back in Mexico. I…

The movie that made us realize the brilliance of Robert Rodriguez, fall in love with Salma Hayek, and respect Antonio Banderas. Make sure you see the other two in the series, El mariachi, and once upon a Time in Mexico.
Upon watching this film, I was brought to realization of what Robert Rodriguez could do with a studio budget. The music, the action, the acting, it is truly wondrous and extravagant and even flashier than the first film. Although I can’t see Antonio Banderas with long hair without seeing The mask…
Explosive and seductive 😎 A classic Robert Rodriguez grindhouse film. The passion between Banderas and Hayek is iconic. People will criticize it for being a grindhouse film, but it’s what people like. It’s not pretty or perfect, or really at all endearing, but it’s entertaining.

Didn’t really hear anything about this movie until I came across it on Netflix, but when I watched it, I was actually slightly impressed with how much I liked it. A mariachi as the action hero. Now that’s different. Overall the action is as fun and Salma Hayek is hot!!!! 8.8/10
love this movie. it’s got everything a crime thriller needs tbh. it’s got great characters, a good plot, a great looking cast. everything is how it should be. based on mainly entertainment 10/10

strong contender for top 10 90s action movies. Great lead and they are clearly just having fun with thr gun-fu elements.
Really fun action sequences via Rodriguez. Banderas is a great lead. Fun cameos. And oh my goodness, Hayek in her prime.
