Moviegoers are saying
This animated biblical musical about David's story divides audiences between those praising its stunning Cape Town-produced animation and heartfelt musical numbers, and critics who find it overly long or politically charged. While families and faith-based audiences consistently celebrate its inspiring message and visual craftsmanship that rivals DreamWorks, secular viewers remain split on whether it transcends its religious roots to achieve 'Prince of Egypt' status.

David may be a towering figure of biblical lore, but this telling of a chapter of his story is not merely animated, it’s cartoonish.

A well-produced, visually impressive, character-driven fable about the man who would be king.

It comes off, it plays and it entertains. And the impressive, high-end Sunrise Animation Studio production values — realistic landscapes, clever character designs and tje scale of a capital city under construction (Gibeah, pre-Jerusalem) — are just the icing on the cake.
