Synopsis
The bonds between mother and daughter are tested when a young girl is reunited with her birth mother. At ten years old, Vittoria has a great relationship with her mom, Tina. Then the youngster is rocked by a revelation: Her birth mother is actually a woman named Angelica, best known for hard partying and evading responsibility.
As Angelica faces a move to a new city, Tina allows her to spend some time with her daughter. What harm could that do? Then Vittoria and Angelica begin to spend more time together, and the ten-year old is soon torn between the kind woman who raised her and the birth mother who is starting to think she wants her daughter back.

Metacritic
The script is very sparse. It feels like an outline, a general idea rather than an actual filled-out story. Because of this, there's a slightly belabored quality to the film. We see where it's going. We see how it's going to go.
A bold and colourful, but by no means superficial portrait of femininity, Daughter of Mine successfully embodies a set of ideas – and anxieties – about motherhood that eloquently reflect a contemporary need to reevaluate the traditional family unit.
Bispuri challenges us to do away with conventional notions of what a perfect mother should be.
