Some truly gruesome imagery in this one. I’ve unfortunately become a tough scare in my old age from holding the film negative of my psyche up to the sunlight of constant horror every day since the age of 13. But even still I found the image of a woman in an ill fitting old…
Branson ReeseNov 6, 2016There is like 47 subplots in this movie. Somewhere in there is a fun slasher. Kudos on the mask and the ice skating scene.
Ian WestApr 25, 2019Another 80’s slasher and a really great one at that! Let me tell you that the VHS cover art was terrifying as a kid. Like, there was absolutely no way I was going to rent this back then even if I was allowed. Something about that face still creeps me out now. I mean, look…
Tony the Terror - Dec 16, 2025
It’s another day in 1983, and another slasher enters the fray. So what is Curtains’ angle? What would separate it from the ocean of similarly themed films? Well, it is clearly a more adult-oriented story than most. Instead of camp counselors, graduating students or young…
Digital PressDec 9, 2023#SlasherSaturday This was rather disappointing. The editing and narrative felt very choppy and scenes didn’t really flow together. Kills were not very imaginative and happen mostly off screen. Add in some of the cringe components (rape fantasy, pervy director and his…
Kevflix And ChillOct 20, 2019All slasher films should be this melodramatic, and all melodramas should be this bloody. (This is better than All About Eve. Fight me.)

Until recently, I was not aware of this movie, but after seeing a list on WhatCulture Horror, I was immediately intrigued. In essence, it's Samuel Fuller's Shock Corridor mashed up with a reality show like "America's Next Top Model," in which a group of actresses stay…
Rafael "Mister Movie" JovineMar 31, 2023A very mediocre slasher that is basically only noteworthy for its snowy, secluded mansion setting, and for the pre-kill ice skating sequence. Its biggest failing is definitely that the murders happen off-screen/the lack of gore effects. There's a lot of wasted potential…
Lou (rhymes with wow!)Jul 1, 2021It might have been because of the wine but this felt very muddled at times. That didn't keep me from enjoying it though. Any time I discover an unknown (to me) '80s slasher is a good time™. I just dig movies that take place in a mansion. Add a group of colourful characters…

A fun 80’s slasher that explores the competitiveness of actresses, in a very repressive and patriarchal society. The kills are fun and the mask is creepy and kinda silly. Pour yourself a drink and you’ll have a good time with this one.
I watched this on TV when I was 13 and the doll in the road and the skating scene stayed with me and so continued my fear of dolls. 40+ years later. The story is great but the advancements in tech make this laughable.
