why aren't we all just watching this movie every day of the week
David SimsFeb 24, 2016Really moving how each fight sequence - while brilliantly conceived and executed - also has its own emotional narrative arc. I'd almost forgotten what a wonder this movie is.
Josh LarsenAug 27, 2013Still think this is a pretty great movie, but. . . The epilogue still doesn't sit right with me. A bunch of people seem to think the movie ends with Zhang Ziyi killing herself, maybe because she's sad that she basically caused Chow Yun-fat's death. But in no way do I think…

people in 19th century china could actually just fly
adamboltAug 14, 2018Honestly one of the most visually and emotionally beautiful films I’ve ever seen.
Jamelle BouieMar 15, 2014"We'll be our own masters at last." Everyone here has sacrificed something for tradition, for ritual (except Jen, who thinks she can refuse to, ultimately naively), so of course they all want to control a weapon actually named Destiny. Lee westernizes wuxia's (and more…

9.5/10 a truly beautiful story about the tragedies and resiliencies of love - shows the path of a young corrupted hero learn about themselves and the world they are destined to live in - probably the best choreographed fight scenes i’ve ever watched that captivate you with their precision and grace…
An absolutely beautiful movie, exploring some of the same camera tricks, and poetic editing that made the matrix so successful. Both movies came out around the same time, both employing related philosophies that left you feeling satisfied in the end, not just another 2 hour film
The first half of this movie is straightforward and a bit predictable. Thankfully, the film doesn’t rely on these predictable plot points for crucial moments. This allows the second half to soar, capitalizing on everything set up prior. Fantastic story with great performances.

An exhilarating martial arts film that is covered in beautiful scenery, especially the treetop sword fight scene at the end. It’s great action with a decent love story, that just seems to be literally filled with magic and wonder. Oh how I yearn to fly through forests. 7.5
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a mesmerizing martial arts epic! Ang Lee's direction beautifully blends action, romance, and drama, while the stunning cinematography and choreography elevate every scene. A timeless masterpiece that captivates with its elegance and depth.
Entirely unrealistic but thoroughly enjoyable. Wonderful sense of catharsis which you face with many samurai films. Terrific performances across the board. Excellent score too, one I’ll definitely go back to. More like this please. Finally watched an Ang Lee film so yay
