Synopsis
This new chapter in the Rocky Balboa story starts in an unlikely place: with the son of an old friend. Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) wants to follow in his late father Apollo Creed’s footsteps as a boxer, but needs a trainer to prepare him. And who better for the job than Apollo’s former rival, Rocky! Together these two generations of men explore their legacies and find strength in and out of the ring. Sylvester Stallone returns to his iconic role with a performance that earned him a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. And yet, this is the first Rocky film he didn’t write himself. Instead, Creed comes courtesy of co-writer and director Ryan Coogler – who had previously worked with Michael B. Jordan on 2013's Fruitvale Station, and more recently on a little film called Black Panther. Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, and the city of Philadelphia also star.

This movie blew me away. As a huge fan of the Rocky franchise, I think this is the best Rocky movie since the original. I feel like I need to hit the gym and start training. For what, I don't know. Let's just do it!
Very good!
Metacritic
Sylvester Stallone doesn't get back in the ring in Creed, but he still comes away as a big winner in this far-fetched but likeable offshoot of the geriatric Rocky series.

Since so much of Creed’s emotional oomph comes from audience familiarity with the past films, the movie mostly shadowboxes with its past.
