Synopsis
Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for knocking people out. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster).

LHLeon HicksThe lesbian lifestyle emphasis didn’t come across in the preview. I would have liked to of had a choice before I am seated in front of the screen as to my choice of lifestyle.

Metacritic
The film never rises above its clichés.
Christy is ultimately a redemptive story, complete with the discovery of an actual loving relationship. But the road to redemption is rough on the character and, at times, the audience. Still, it has a certain NASCAR charm (particularly in the early scenes), and characters who effectively carry it forward.
Something feels a tad icky when you’re exiting the theatre of a dispiriting true story and being told you’re supposed to actually feel good.
