Forget a review, It's Chinatown.
Lee CurtisJul 19, 2019100 So, about that ending. It both *is* and *isn't* Chinatown. It's a part of the city to be abstracted, disembodied, insidiously morphed into a racist calculation of laborious figures by those who are allowed to freely leave. Even as J.J. Gittes submits and wanders into…
SilentDawnAug 3, 2020crazy how Polanski made a film about a Los Angeles run by misogynistic, predatory men 🤔 very, very interesting

The most interested I’ve been in a movie in a long time, I was sucked in with every scene. The screenplay does a fantastic job at giving you just enough, it’s as though each individual word was carefully thought out. No wonder it’s regarded as one of the best screenplays of…
KarstenFeb 21, 2021In my opinion the most famous line from this movie should be when Jack Nicholson calls some rude guy at a barbershop a “bimbo”

Jack Nicholson is the only man in the world who can wear a huge band-aid on his nose and still be the coolest guy in the room!
Valdimar B. HaukssonDec 9, 2019I wish the music in this would just randomly just playing throughout my life when it fits the situation.

I’ve heard this film raved about, so I decided to see for myself. Even though I’ve only seen a few of them, I do really enjoy Noir films. This one did take a while to get going, but once the mystery starts, that’s when it starts to get good. I thought this was going to be better.
WTF! im all about leaving the ending of the movie up in the air for people to decide what happens, but wtf!? Left A LOT in the air! But put in simple terms, the movie Rango pretty much just copied the actual scandal part of this movie. Then the other part was neat, lots of twists

i like the performances, the vibe and the initial idea of the plot but the movie is just depressing, and the ending makes everything kinda pointless, maybe thats the point i don't know. Polanski seems to like to do that sorta unsatisfying ending.
I watched this for a film class and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this film. The little details and subtleties are hard to notice at first but nonetheless pretty impactful once you unravel more of the plot. 9/10
