Atom User Reviews for Chaos Walking
I wanted this movie to be so much more! I walked away with a couple unanswered questions but overall, it was entertaining to watch.
A bit annoying to watch because of the “noise and very underwhelming
Predictable, pacing was all over the place. Shame for such a good cast.
Great movie
decent
Not worth seeing unless you like the actors in it
Good movie to see. Performances by the cast are excellent. The storyline not so much. Still worth a watch!
This is the first time back to the theater since March 2020, this movie is just ok, kinda slow, boring in the beginning, got a little better as it went on but still a bit of a disappointment. Good previews before the movie
considering all that this flick went through I'm surprised it turned out as good as it did. doubt there will be a sequel, but I will check out the books
I really enjoyed the movie, Tom holland made for a likeable character. The progression of the story towards the end was a bit bland, but original nonetheless.
Left me with a lot of unanswered questions many concepts were introduced and was abandoned immediately. Found out it's based on books so there is room to elaboration but, good nontheless.
I really enjoyed the movie. I read the first three books and of course the movie didn't follow the book, but I liked the changes. I'm not one of those people that thinks the movie needs to file the book, as long as it doesn't suck.
Awesome concepts, but the pacing felt a bit fast and had a few plot holes. Would’ve loved to see what it would’ve been like it Women had The Noise, I think it would’ve made for a more interesting dynamic between Holland and Ridley.
Pretty good movie. It kept me wanting to see more!
Love Tom Holland!!
Great movie! Does have some language but for the most part it’s pretty clean. Would see it again!
nice to see in theaters & glad to be back! fun watch but not overwhelmingly exciting and overdone. just a nice 4 star fun watch!
Great movie but I fell it didn’t need the priest and dog scene. Makes the movie unrewatchable for me. Just seemed unnecessary.
Surprisingly funny.
Not a bad flick. Tom Holland is quickly becoming the next Shia LaBeouf. He's nerdy while trying to act quietly tough. The act gets old. Daisy brings nothing to the table. The story was great and the script wasn't bad at all. Heck, the dog was a better actor than 90% of the cast
Ok/good movie. Definitely a watch especially since it’s buy one get one.
Weak ending
Not the greatest movie you will ever see but still feel it was worth the price of the ticket to be entertained.
def not a master piece, but fun cast and it was fun
I would see it again. I loved everything but the ending. I wish there was a better ending.
I had read the book The Knife of Never Letting Go and I loved it. It was so well written and the story had so much detail and incredible events. I’ve always loved dystopian novels such as this and hunger games etc. The reason I didn’t enjoy the movie was because major events were taken out of the book, drastic changes with character roles and characters themselves. It was a cool movie and was done well with “Noise” but anyone who has read the book should think poorly of the movie. My brother who has never read the book loved it! It’s always fun to sit back and watch movie with good popcorn even if it’s not the best. God bless and yes I am bored today.
The story drags and has way too many unanswered questions. The ending is anticlimactic.
Worst
At time predictable, it kinda balances itself out based on the premises of the movie itself.
Story a little intense for kids under 13; good chemistry between Holland and Ridley; captured my attention and kept it throughout; didn’t give away where it was going and the story. Setting up for additional movies to the books
We liked it
The cast did great with what they were given to work with - Tom Holland and Nick Jonas made the whole movie for me. The story was a little all over the place though!
Loved it!
Not an exact adaptation of the book, but I was still impressed and enjoyed the cinematic spin they put on the story!
Wow was this a let down. They spent all their budget on CGI “noise” apparently and forgot the script. Funny moments throughout but the plot was awful and so many unfinished storylines to most likely create a sequel. Problem is, the first one was bad. Good actors like Tom Holland and Nick Jonas don’t automatically make your movie good. Don’t see it until it’s free.
Decent movie! I liked the storyline but left with too many unanswered questions. A lot of things weren’t addressed further and just left in the wind.
It was nice to go to a theater again
this is by far the worst movie I have seen in years. it's not just boring but it's also incredibly annoying. I would have walked out if I wasn't with somebody.
lots of fun! didn't read the books, and fully enjoyed the ride
Holes in the plot, way too much swearing
Liked it, but the ending was too abrupt. Definitely needs a sequel.
I have to admit that if it wasn't for the free admission from Atom Tickets, I was just going to wait until this movie came out on disc. I'm rather old school when it comes to movies and had hope seeing it on the big screen would perhaps make it worth it. Unfortunately, I started comparing this movie with others in the same genre and concluded that it's a "same story, different actors" type of movie with a few minor twists.
Tom Holland was etertaining. Storyline was weak, expected more. Many good actors made it okay to watch
Loved it!
If you get triggered by a pet getting killed. Don’t watch it
loosely based on the books , but otherwise good
Awesome from start till finish.
It was a overall decent movie with a few no parts with lazy writing. Also they should not have shown the alien, it looked like the cgi was rushed on that. Other than that the vfx were pretty cool.
great movie to watch, entertaining, but the story left so many holes and they could've used some of the characters more. the ending was weak too
love the concept and the visuals of the new world looked great! Can’t wait for the 2nd!!
Metacritic
Yes, it’s a bit helter-skelter, but it is also an adequately enjoyable and untaxing way to kill off a couple of hours.
Chaos Walking feels like a condensement of Ness’ trilogy of books instead of a straightforward translation of the first, and consequently there’s too much that needs to happen in too slim a running time, which leaves little space for making the movie’s conflicts matter.
Chaos Walking is, as with any pop confection, catchy and has a solid beat, it’s just a shame that this tune is all too familiar.
