I’m an Elvis stan and my girlfriend is Egyptian so Coscarelli’s funny/reflective/somber Elvis/JFK vs a cowboy mummy in a Texas waiting to die facility hit the spot. First revisit in a few years reminded me how much I love this weirdo early 2000’s good mojo jam. We laughed,…

This is the only Elvis movie.
matthewcutchenMay 7, 2022Nothing bad ever happens to the Kennedys!!!
AaronFeb 3, 2014Conceptually, a film about a geriatric Elvis Presley facing off against an Egyptian mummy sounds, well, awesome. Casting Bruce Campbell as Elvis and pairing with Ossie Davis as JFK only adds to the potential awesomeness. Unfortunately, there is not much to "Bubba Ho-tep"…

What a miracle this movie is. You hear "Elvis and JFK fight a mummy in a Texas nursing home" and you think it will be a cynical, pandering genre exercise like, well, a lot of Bruce Campbell movies. Then you hear that it commits hard to the premise and strikes a seriocomic…
Will SloanApr 4, 2014There are times when some films just take you along on a wild ride. This film is utterly nuts, but somehow it works, certainly in the comedy stakes with Bruce Campbell just brilliant as "The King" ably supported by a black President Kennedy. Yep that's right a black JFK…
Andy Summers 🤠Mar 8, 2026It's wild for me to consider that for a five-year span, I used to make every friend I had watch this. Bruce Campbell becomes the Elvis this movie needs. Ossie Davis brings the gravitas. Joe R. Lansdale's original source text is followed almost to the letter. Don…

- Dark Sun is "meh" onBubba Ho-tep
A surprisingly different execution than what the basic premise pitched was. Spending most of the movie reminiscing about the pseudo life of Elvis was unique, especially since they took it mostly seriously. I felt it lacked a lot of horror in any capacity though; felt sidelined.
Nick Dubberly dislikedBubba Ho-tepI love Bruce Campbell so I figured I was in for a good time. Unfortunately, I didn’t love it and I was bored throughout its entire runtime. Maybe it’s because I was really tired and that’s why I didn’t appreciate it as much it deserved. Or maybe it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
ChungiBoi is "meh" onBubba Ho-tepBruce Campbell was great as always, but I went into this thinking it’d be him as Elvis fighting a mummy, with it being cheesy and ridiculous. And…although Elvis does fight a mummy, 70% of the film is him in a bed reminiscing about the past and making basic raunchy jokes

I loved the Campbell and Davis combo, but as a movie it wasn't that great. The pacing never really picks up. Should've been a lot more comedy, but still watchable for the late great Ossie Davis and charismatic Bruce Campbell
Orlando Ramone lovedBubba Ho-tepNot only one of Don Coscarelli’s best movies, but definitely one of the best Elvis movies ever made! It turned me into a huge fan of “The King”!
MovieDaddy likedBubba Ho-tepOverly quirky and schlocky style make this the perfect Bruce Campbell vehicle. Fans of Bruce will rejoice, all else may scratch their heads.

Mismatched marriage of offbeat character study and unimaginative horror riffs. Most compelling element by far is Bruce Campbell's inspired performance as a nursing home patient who insists he is the real Elvis Presley.
