Not my favorite documentary on the Iraq or Afghanistan wars, but it is touching. What I love that most in this documentary is that there is a focus on their family back home and the children they so greatly miss. The focus on how the transition back into civilian life is…
MeetTheKillerMar 1, 2025I didn't know this was a documentary but nevertheless, it was/is completely gripping and intense....you can feel the emotional weight and gravitas emanating from the heroes on the screen.
Hilton N. Webb, Jr.Mar 6, 2025There’s a tendency to focus on purely the trauma aspect of the transition from military to civilian life, so it’s admittedly refreshing to see the documentary approach it from a perspective of optimism in how people move forward and have fulfilling second lives following…

As someone who grew up in a military family and had a brother who served in Iraq, this was an emotional journey.

This film documents the paths most of us vets take. Too often we're portrayed through a deficit-based lens -- homeless, addicted, hateful, or on the end of the spectrum trophy heroes. The family featured is relatable and that's what has been missing from the post-9/11 films…
molerat131Mar 6, 2025As much as this film has been derided for its pro Military Industrial Complex stance, I feel it's approach in the hardships of the spouses and children experience when their family member is deployed and the facing veterans returning to civilian life is one that needs to be…
VicgrimesMar 1, 2025Thoughtful documentary. I personally do not prefer these style of self aware documentaries, but I cannot downplay the importance of the underlying message. Have already recommended it to others.
