And, in true noir fashion, I had no idea what was happening after 15 minutes.
Ethan ❄️Sep 17, 2020Once you get past the cute screenplay tics of its kiddie-noir gimmick this is just a total blast and still one of the most ambitious, cheap indie genre debuts of recent memory. All of its budgetary limitations only contribute even further to its charm and how impressive it…

If Brick was made today, there would definitely be a character who vaped.
Hunter ᴴᴰJun 4, 2020i have a very rare brain disease that makes it impossible for me to understand neo-noir movies but i DID appreciate the direction and i DID laugh at joseph gordon-levitt getting knocked out approximately 20 times
amayaJun 1, 2014Low Budget Cinema It's really quite amazing what Rian Johnson can do with an incredibly limited budget. Brick is nothing if not creative—it may utilize genre conventions, but it does so in a unique way. As a lover of inventive cinematography the biggest standout for me…

okay i’m gonna be honest i have no idea what just happened but this is a petition to let joseph gordon-levitt step on me with those awful rimless glasses
gaiaSep 28, 201978 What Brick lacks in a homage for Film-Noir is a tangible reverence for the melancholy and patterns of the genre's language. The spirited, flowery conversations between High School students is funny at first, but then deeply sad - a world with hardly any adults, with…
SilentDawnDec 5, 2019Still one of my all-time favorite films, just a complete joy to watch. 1940s noir meets modern high-school, with idiosyncratic dialogue, updated character archetypes, and everyone taking the whole affair fantastically seriously. Startlingly funny while still being…

Beautiful music and movie… Rían johnson inspired me to continue my film making career.. I really love old 2000s high school movies the grainy film era really catches me. I love this movie and will continue to be my favorite movie in my list. Joseph did amazing.
Brick is a noir-style film set in an early 2000's high school, and is really good, Levitt delivers his lines perfectly which is vital for a film like this. 7/10

This was very good, reminded me of an old noir movie like Casablanca . The camera shot in the opening scene, wow. The dialect was classic. The brain, I truly wonder if it was the characters subconscious, so good. You have to like old noir movies to understand this film.
Had a lot of writing flaws, but interesting elements of film. Rian Johnson is not good at writing "twists," but I can say that Brick had least had some heart in it. The women are not people, so I would not recommend brick to other women, lol. LOVED the music though

a sharp, smart, violent, and charismatic mystery film led by the superbly talented joseph gordon-levitt. i usually don’t enjoy such campy highschool films but the darker narrative and fast-paced dialogue made for an enjoyable and unique experience
With an iron clad script and an even iron cladder cast and director, this does not disappoint. It’s an intense noir that takes time to recognize the absurdity of the situation, especially due to how they’re in high school

Sensational is the word for Joseph Gordon-Levitt (equally striking in Mysterious Skin), who stars as Brendan, the teen outsider who becomes a budding Bogart.
