ethan hawke gets hotter as this goes on
yazz! *・゚✧Dec 24, 2014After finishing Boyhood and slowly gathering my thoughts on it I did what I usually do, fly over to Letterboxd to jot those thoughts down before they escape me. What I wasn't prepared for was what happened when I saw that poster. It was a slap in the face, a jarring…
DirkHOct 21, 2016i just... i cant believe they spent 12 years making this goddamn movie only for mason to end up becoming a boring stoner kid

ethan hawke really went from : 😉🖤🎸🎳🗣🍟 to 🤠✝️🇺🇸🙏🏻🚐👨🏻 saddest character development
abi 🖤Jan 20, 2015It also took me 12 years to finish this, where is my Oscar nom??

"You think they'll ever make another STAR WARS movie?"
matt lynchA miserable experience that thinks it's way more profound than it actually is. It has nothing to say and its only value as a film comes from the novelty of its gimmick. Watch Lady Bird or The Florida Project instead.
James (Schaffrillas)Nov 12, 2016great documentation of life, half way through and you want it to be over

Now I was initially going to say I loved this movie while I was watching the first half but once mason(main character) got older the movie started to get really I guess you could say existential. Now as a teenager that part of the movie was kinda interesting but also sorta boring
Had high expectations for this film, it’s more of a documentary/home video type vibe which was an interesting concept - just felt it lacked a sort of climax or purpose…rather revolutionary for its time though

its a very unique film, and its so cool seeing the kid growing up throughout the movie
9.9 - God damn this hits like a ton of bricks to my slightly older self. A truly singular experience. It’s a steady stream of both nostalgia & wistfulness. There’s moments here that feel ripped right from my own life. There’s moments that make me yearn for parts of my youth I missed. The…
Amazing movie, the ending was a bit meh and lowkey cliche. I really liked that they took a different approach to filming, which meant you could really see the kids grow up, instead of just switching actors like in most movies. The movie had a few confusing grow up moments and I felt like there was…

Solid movie thats uniquely filmed to follow the life of a boy as he ages and experiences problems throughout his life, with the actors all aging in real time I think their choice on making the kid an existentialist was a little meh but it didn’t take much from the movie
You can see how much effort the director put into this and what a bold move he took. Unique.
Literally took me like 6 hours to finish idk why. I think the concept of using the same actors over 12 years and having irl time skips is interesting and it was well executed but it could be pretty corny at times. The whole thing just felt so nostalgic to me which I loved. You just have to ignore…
