Watching such an unstylized Wes Anderson film is so weird, like it feels like I've stumbled onto some illegal footage I was never meant to see

Lucy2nd watch. Much to like, much to dislike. I still find this pretty entertaining and charming despite how much of a mess it is. Nobody involved in the film really knows 100% of what they're doing but it still manages to work. Even my least favorite Wes film is still a…

I seriously don't think Wes Anderson has or ever will make a bad movie. Even though this is one of his weaker films, it's still really great. (also, I finally finished his filmography!!)

Wes Anderson’s first movie is witty, quirky, and sometimes, very funny. A group of losers try to live a life of crime, unsuccessfully.
This movie was pretty good, I loved Luke and Owen Wilson throughout, and the comedy was pretty funny. You could tell this was directed by Wes Anderson even though it was his first film, and overall it was pretty damn good. The plot was a little weird and hard to follow at times but the ending was…

7.2 - I may not have completed enough of Wes Anderson’s films to truly say but I see a lot of glimpses of what I *think* is his style here - especially in the humor & writing. The Wilson Bros show a lot of their eventual star power, & despite messy pacing it’s a quirky good time.
6.7/10 It is not as good as the rest of Anderson’s work since it was the beginning. Although it does a nice presentable beginning for his and Owen Wilson’s work together. The films mention of leaving a mark on life and succeeding in our everyday purpose was a interesting aspect.

A mature & poignant tale of the push and pull of friendship set against a road/buddy comedy & caper backdrop. Charismatic performances from the Wilsons who sell their lovable characters’ long lasting friendship thanks to being related. Excellent script by them & Anderson.
My favorite Wes Anderson so far. So cool to see his style early on; he clearly knows what he wants to do. Watching his movies, I feel safe as a viewer when he tells the story. This movie isn’t super clear but it’s clear enough, and I love the layers here. Brilliant
