Will SteeleNov 11, 2020BRITISH FILM FESTIVAL - OPENING NIGHT Technically this is a 3 star film, but when you have dame Judy Dench playing an incompetent clairvoyant and a scene with Isla Fisher dancing high on amphetamines, that’s gotta count for something. Not to mention, being one of the only…
MJsaysFeb 15, 2021movie just okay, but the production design is TO DIE FOR. That house! Those interiors!!!!! I need to paint a wall mint or cotton-candy pink immediately. My Tribune Review

Mister Cap (english/german)Jan 24, 2021Director Edward Hall attempts to create a fresh and fleet-footed comedy with this adaptation of Noël Coward's 1941 West End stage play. The production design recalls Downton Abbey as it accounts spiritualist medium Madame Arcati (Judi Dench) holding a séance for…

ZaraGwenApr 25, 2021Absolutely fantastic production design, it looks incredible, the beautiful locales and the fashion, hair and makeup, all beautiful and stunning and amazing, the rest of the movie, not so much. Everything just seemed so forced, nothing was very clever or natural, the…

- Disagreeable_Hobo is "meh" onBlithe Spirit
Boring, hard to get through, not very funny, acting, outfits, decor were great and accurate. Didn’t like anyone except the séance lady and I’m glad she’s happy. I felt really bad for the wife, seemed like girls being mean to girls all over a boy. Wouldn’t watch again. 3/10
Kward0610 likedBlithe SpiritA really fun and enjoyable film about death, love and unresolved issues. The cast is great and the story takes some interesting turns. It meanders at times but the third act really makes up for it. Underrated.
Cassidy Rutherford dislikedBlithe SpiritJust kind of meh. Takes some significant changes from the play, and while I love to see a lady team up, this just didn’t do it for me. All the “good” bits are in the latter half of the film. It’s a slog.

Stevens, Fisher, Mann and Dench are all fine. All have good moments. The problem is the script, the script, the script.

The source material explodes with wit, but this hackneyed screenplay has swapped the crackling repartee for bargain-bin joke book lines delivered at a snail’s pace.
