Atom User Reviews for Blade Runner 2049
This is the greatest sci-fi masterpiece since Star Wars or the Final Cut of the original Blade Runner. The film is incredible and stands on its own. It has a soul and an amazing theme/meaning behind.
An sequel I was afraid might be an unworthy follow-up to the original visionary masterpiece turns out to be both beautifully consistent with its predecessor and a film that stands on its own.
Slow dystopian movie amazing sets and actors
Loved it. It's a lot of plot... so if you aren't a fan of the first, or do not enjoy a sci-fi drama, this may not be for you. I thought it was as amazing and the soundtrack was amazing!
A worthy sequel that not only respects and honors what came before, but also improves and adds upon it.
Super freaking boring. Wish Ryan Gosling would refund my ticket.
This is such an original art piece along with the first blade runner movie. Ryan Gosling also did such an amazing job portraying his character.
Without a doubt, one of the top 10 best movies of all time. A perfect film.
truly stunning! lots of twists and turns! great performances by Ford and Gosling!
I love all of R.S., but this tops even the original Blade Runner. It was great to see Harrison Ford back in what I consider to be his element. This film brought the visual effects of today and blended it masterfully with an original dystopian plot.
Very good more than I expected, Iโll have to see it again to decipher some of the dialogue
Great Movie. Long and Brooding, Like the Original. Ambiguous. Smart. Beautiful.
This film was truly masterful in presentation. Eyegasmic cinematography that had me forgetting the dialogue at times and the sound design was the icing on top. For a film based on artificial characters, this had a very real and grounded essence to its character interactions and development. Iโm going to give a hot-take and I donโt mean to downplay the original Blade Runner, but this is overall a better film, it was simply just more. Go see it. ๐๐๐๐๐ -A
Beautiful lighting, thought provoking, and a must see in Dolby Cinema
I like the fact that the movie had a real futuristic theme to it. I was in Suspense from the time it started until it ended it was worth my $20. Also the fact that the quality of the movie and the seat would react to certain scenes was really a cool experience.
make sure you have watched the first one.
guendy is crazy for not liking it
very well constructed. visuals are amazing
Best movie of the year , see the first one before !!
Blade Runner was a very slow burn kind of movie but it was shot well and the story was excellent. It followed the original well. You should look up the short films to understand what happened after the 1st movie and before this one. enjoy
Such an amazing film that would take more than a few hashtags to explain the feeling of the movie and just how beautiful the film is. Ryan is amazing as K. Ana playing Joi was beautiful and Mackenzie is stunning as always.
best sci-fi of the decade?
Outstanding... Utterly outstanding
The worst part is I won't get to see another movie this good
the type of film that will be studied and inspire many.
Such a well rounded sequel
it's worthwhile
Really makes you think, very detailed. Worth every penny. Go see it.
Legitimately I can not tell you what happened during this movie...
do not watch
A little too long
I can sincerely say that Iโm not a HUGE fan of the first Blade Runner, as a slow burn type movie in that sort of atmospheric setting doesnโt entirely do it for me. But I was intrigued to see what the sequel offered. When I think of the words โBlade Runnerโ, or โHunting down replicantsโ, I donโt see an investigative, slow paced movie. It just doesnโt translate in my mind. The scope, and magnitude -FOR ME- doesnโt match the plot. Donโt get me wrong, I love a great script, twist & turns, thoughtful processes, and mystery. But thereโs something between the script and the world that just doesnโt match up. This is a continuation of the Decker storyline. And itโs seem like a small plot with a huge backdrop. Itโs not a bad movie! I know itโs sounds like Iโm being overly negative. It is a gorgeous movie with very good acting, breathtaking visuals, and good writing. I can really appreciate the almost perfect production quality, but itโs maybe a movie I would only have the urge to see 1 time.
great Special effects but slow moving and not enough Action
it made no sense at all
Too much talking
Long and boring.
really sad and made me just....felt pity for Ryan How long. I had the same feeling when I saw the ending of John Wick 2.
Great movie just kinds long and drawn out
Amazing to look at but drawn out and unsatisfying for sure.
the movie was good but very slow...it would have been better if it had a more layered plot and more action
This movie is boring and meaningless!! Wasted my time n money !!!!
most boring movie ever...3 hours long
Great story line, but to much unnecessary nudity.
This movie was loooooongggg and drawn out. Tries to keep you guessing but adds up if you pay attention. I donโt see the appeal of this film.
horrible!!! thoroughly disappointed
it was way too long and I could've spent my time better doing just about anything else.
I want my money and time back.
Horrible movie, flat plot,
Slightly better than the first one which is not that hard
A bit longer than expected...over simplified for a more intelligent audience...still, better than expected!
Metacritic
Is it a perfect movie? Not quite. The middle section drags a bit through no fault of the excellent performances, but ultimately itโs all of a piece, and the mid-mark pacing turns out to be a relatively minor quibble.
So swollen with purpose, so titanically self-conscious in its mythmaking, that at times its nearly paralyzes itself with solemnity.
Blade Runner 2049 is long and slow. Itโs never boring, but itโs a little too mired in one sustained note of sadness to break out as a great experience or to stand out as a great movie. Still, there are some remarkable scenes.
