If you watch this movie for the action and the story telling, it is a great movie with great messages. You will sure be entertained from start to finish. If you watch this movie for it's historical context, you will sure be disappointed. It was obviously an over the top story of a historical event in Bruce Lee's life and not meant to be historically accurate.
As alternatingly silly and serious as its mix of wisdom and wallops, and even with that blond bro gumming up the works, “Birth” is nevertheless zippy, B-movie entertainment.
The fight scenes are indeed the film’s strongest element, even if at times they seem overly choreographed and slightly cheesy.

- Martial artist, actor, and stuntman Mike Moh campaigned for the role of Bruce Lee in the film.
- The film's portrayal of Wong Jack Man contains numerous factual errors. The biggest being that he was not a Shaolin monk nor did he come to San Francisco as penance for killing a man in a duel. Nor did he return to China as he continued to teach martial arts in the Fremont Center of San Francisco until he retired in 2005.
- Bruce Lee: You're a great advertisement for our training.

- Steve McKee: I'm fine.
