refreshing take on the apocalypse film. feels like something everyone would be talking about 10 years ago and something that would be anything but a comfort watch one year ago. probably my go-to recommendation for thanksgiving 2021

The second robot movie I’ve seen is as many days, only this one was not quite as good. Not even the greatness that is Tom Hanks could save this lackluster film. There’s not really a whole lot of exposition that goes into this post apocalyptic film a yet it still feels rushed.
Mike. is "meh" onFinchI found the story to be very average. There isn't the typical hero's journey in the story which leaves the building and ending feeling unfinished. There are some comical moments, but the sad scenes don't hit very well. Tom Hanks character lacks significant development/change
Stoofman likedFinchI mean for me, it’s the fact that a movie just doesn’t have a lot of people in it, and in a sense that’s a major component in a good movie (not that I get tired of the ones we have), just that you need other faces. Other than that the movie was awesome, ending sucked🥲🤧

Despite the ticking clock of Finch’s rapidly progressing illness, the movie doesn’t build up much urgency or excitement. The script is pretty thin, almost all premise and little incident. But director Miguel Sapochnik has the eye to make this world compellingly hostile and bleak, and that counts for something.
