I love Star Wars but it's a tragedy that it prevented us from ever getting more movies from the George Lucas who made American Graffiti
Patrick WillemsDec 16, 2018Pretty good for a movie about teenagers driving around saying hello to each other
Mike GinnMay 2, 2017The Summer of '62. Before JFK went to Dallas. Before Vietnam. Before the Watts riots. The last summer of innocence for the first group of Baby Boomers. Our main characters in American Graffiti are these kids. They have no clue what's ahead of them. The music. The lack of…

One of the overrated movies ever. Minimal story, if any at all. Tries to come across as an anthology type of script but doesn’t succeed. Lucas’ story execution is suspect.
What a wild ride for a single night.. Really enjoyed this film, incredible tracks and story. Felt like you were in the summer of 62.

Outstanding storytelling, there’s so much going on at once but done to the point where it’s all coherent. The characters are easy to sympathize with. There are a couple of aspects to this film that I don’t think aged all that well. A great watch and a beautiful film.

I actually really enjoyed this. Excellent music throughout the entire movie! Also really great cast. Multiple storylines happening all in one night. At first it felt like it had no plot but eventually it gets interesting.
Iconic. It’s clear in some scenes that this was early on in the directing career of George Lucas, but at the same time, I think Star Wars distracts from the attention that this movie deserves.

On the surface, Lucas has made a film that seems almost artless; his teenagers cruise Main Street and stop at Mel’s Drive-In and listen to Wolfman Jack on the radio and neck and lay rubber and almost convince themselves their moment will last forever. But the film’s buried structure shows an innocence in the process of being lost, and as its symbol Lucas provides the elusive blonde in the white Thunderbird -- the vision of beauty always glimpsed at the next intersection, the end of the next street.
