I'm starting to feel like the Weyland-Yutani Corporation does not have our best interests at heart.

Uncanny CGI recreation of the dead is arguably scarier than any xenomorph

zoë rose bryantAug 18, 2024Stupidly well directed and tense for what is ultimately a pretty standard legacy sequel. 3/4 of the movie was GREAT. They really nailed the feel and aesthetic of the first film (sets were awesome) with exciting elements from the 2nd. Refreshing to see so much use of practical effects. Lots of homages to all previous Alien movies and even the amazing video game, Alien Isolation. The last 1/4 is the homage to the Protetheus/Covenant part of the franchise... and that's where it just goes off the rails. You'll see what I'm talking about... Movie was SOLID for the most part but the last part or sequence was so rushed and contrived that it really was a let down. Overall - still worth seeing in theaters if you are a huge fan of this franchise.
It’s up there with the first two

Originality is what made Alvarez famous. If only he showed more of it here when it comes to storytelling, not just innovative jump scares.
Despite its overdependence on catering to fans, “Alien: Romulus” is the best “Alien” movie since Cameron’s first sequel.
Romulus feel torn between Alvarez’s desire to tell a new story in the Alien universe and 20th Century Studios’ desire for a fan-servicey thrill ride. The frustrating thing about it is that, moment to moment, it very much works.
