Atom User Reviews for Alien 40th Anniversary (1979) presented by TCM
awesome to have finally seen it on the big screen
I will always like watching this!
So happy to have now seen this on the big screen..
Will last the ages.
Still holds up after all these years. I do wish that TCM would remove or shorten the segments prior to the film starting and expand the after film segments. This would help the people who are new to the movie enjoy it without spoilers or building expectations and lets be honest those who enjoy in depth behind the scenes info have no problem staying afterwards.
so great to be able to see it on the big screen. a movie as epic as that, that was before my time
It was fantastic to see Alien on the big screen. I loved the experience.
Loved watching it again on the big screen!
Springfield IL screening was not properly formatted for the screen and on 2 front facing speakers of the 7.1 worked. I’ve had tickets for 10 months for this and it was the most painful “premium” ticket event I have yet to attend :(
Awesome to see this on the big screen
Such cool sets and cinematography - great acting and though the secret plot twists aren't so secret any more, still an incredible movie
Best Horror Movie of all time
40 years and it still holds up, there were people at the showing who'd never seen it and they were absolutely gripped by it
I've never seen it on the big screen - loved it!
Absolutely love this movie. I saw it in original first release and loved seeing it again. Unfortunately, the theater did not have the sound turned up, so it was very soft, but that was nothing to do with the quality of the movie.
Here Jonesy!
Should have upgraded the print. If they offer a 4K version for purchase, then use that remastered version for the big screen.
Absolutely incredible on the big screen! This movie is timeless; it may as well have been released just yesterday, it looked and sounded that good!
Great movie and even though I have seen it many times at home I did not see it at the theater when it was first released.
Sound was terrible at the theater... they said they knew the sound wasn't working right, but did not want to re-boot.
It was great to get to see it on the big screen again!
I’ve seen Alien at least 10 times but never on the big screen. Love that Fathom brings these back for old and new to see it in its true format.
Still such an awesome movie!!!
Best sci-fi horror movie of all time.
Just as scary as it was the last time I saw it! I've never seen it in the theater before so that was exciting!
A masterpiece, I'm glad I was able to finally see it in a movie theater.
So amazing to see this on the big screen
Still scary today as it was 40 years ago. Honestly the best horror/suspense movie I saw in 1979 and even now in 2019. Nice to see it again on the big screen.
The definition of terror. Movie-making as it should be. Even more frightening on the big screen than the many many times I've seen it on DVD.
Finally got to see this in a theater and it was exactly as creepy and fun and I hoped.
As amazing as it was the the first time I saw it 40 years ago. Really stands the test of time.
Theater was understaffed and didn’t open their doors until 15mins before the movie. Movie was excellent, theater was not.
Metacritic
Editors Terry Rawlings and Peter Weatherley cut the film so cleverly so that we never have a clear notion of what the alien actually looks like until the very last shots.
Just as Ripley is the female action hero against whom all others are judged, so the alien itself, brilliantly conceived by HR Giger and, equally brilliantly, concealed by Scott and kept in shadow for much of the film, is one of the most terrifying monsters in cinema history.
