Moviegoers are saying
Afterburn divides audiences between those craving mindless action thrills and critics demanding narrative depth, with Dave Bautista's post-apocalyptic treasure hunt delivering spectacular stunts but fumbling character development. While some viewers praise it as surprisingly entertaining 'video game cinema' with solid '90s action vibes, others dismiss it as a generic wasteland flick that wastes its talented cast including Samuel L. Jackson.

Rodrigo HomsiOct 25, 2025Afterburn is a post apocalyptic action adventure which is good in stunts but lacks depth in its narration. Storywise the movie is simple. The action sequences were nicely done and the performances of Dave and rest of the cast were decent. The visuals were well captured. The…
LijinAug 25, 2025Dave Bautista needs to stop with the generic post-apocalypse films and just do that rom-com

Dave Bautista's action flick promises an inferno, but fizzles into a dying ember. The script is an insipid mess, offering its talented stars uninspiring material. I'm afraid not even Samuel L Jackson's limited role could breathe life into this. And Bautista, though I love…

alexgiuSep 25, 2025At its semi-frequent best a perfectly cromulent ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK knockoff. Some solid action, decent chemistry between the leads, and just enough personality to keep it lively.

Mister Cap (english/german)Mar 17, 2026“Stop getting aroused. Stop getting aroused. Stop getting aroused…” I just got done rewatching this with my dad on my bluray copy. This movie is so underrated and fun! It’s a shame they spent millions on this and it only made $1.3 million at the box office. The action…

Considering some big names in this it was awful. Didn’t even finish it.
Jen likedAfterburnI really enjoyed this movie! I love Fave Bautista in action movies. I know he’s trying to branch out but he’s just so good at it. This movie has tons of action with some humor sprinkled in. It’s kind of a mindless action movie but I still thought it was great. The music goes really well with the…
Victoria dislikedAfterburni fell asleep three times in the theater during this and didn’t miss anything important at all bc there wasn’t rlly a plot in the first place. just gunshots, action scenes, and explosions (so many, it felt like a neil breen movie). at the end i was just going “???” and “”. srry

A crazy movie with lots of “why are you doing that…” moments, but still entertaining. Post-Apocalyptic search mission with car chases and fight sequences. Not a Bad Watch.

6,5/10 Afterburn is a fast, light action adventure where a soldier and a treasure hunter search for lost artifacts. Simple story, fun action
Mitch is "meh" onAfterburnDecent but seemed too casual like the tone wasn’t set right for a dystopian world.

SJSamiyah JonesI liked it. To be honest, I rate it a 7½/10. It was exciting, and Dave Bautista is always good to see on screen. The storyline wasn't hard to catch on to, and Samuel Jackson always plays this role that you hate to love and love to hate. Check it out.
