Mostly not happy that he chose the princess over the cute Scottish blacksmith. Terrible decision.
Michael JonesMay 3, 2021hadn't realised until watching this that Chris Hemsworth has been doing a Heath Ledger impression for the last decade.

Jousting is the greatest sport because it combines my two favorite things: violence and sitting.
Jordan Beaumont AndersonJul 8, 2016A total blast, literate and campy and really self-consciously "modern" and just so much fun. I'm hard pressed to think of anything else really like it other than that "Taming of the Shrew" episode of "Moonlighting". Also I never get tired of the slo-mo shots of splintering…
matt lynchDec 31, 2018Ella Enchanted for dudes slaps fairly hard at times. Also, it must be noted that the love interest is rocking hairstyles only Miranda from Lizzy McGuire would dare to even attempt. So snaps for that.

RE-WATCH: One of my fav of Heath Ledger’s. Not always a fan of when directors try to modernize historical-like movies, but this one does it right. This film has been weighed. It has been measured and it has not been found wanting!
A pure hearted simple played straight corny story about chivalry done in an anachronistic style used to its advantage to get across its emotions and charm & at the heart of it it’s just a bunch of friendly blokes having a good time. Expect lots of jousting, romance and a few…

Whipping along at speed, with elaborate camera movements and rousing speeches, this knows how to engage a crowd. It's corny, of course, but a guilty pleasure: romantic, diverting, with mildly amusing modern gags.
The movie that your “cool” English teacher shows you when you’re studying Canterbury Tales. Honestly, it’s a fun movie though and the soundtrack makes it. Also, I’m sure it helps that I had the most massive thing for Shannyn Sossamon when it came out.

Pros: Comedic and Lighthearted film about competition and tournaments. Good character role models. Fun soundtrack! Cons: Two scenes of male rear nudity. Both are near the beginning.
As I recall, I enjoyed it a moderate amount. The acting is good and there's some solid humor. But oddly, I also remember thinking that the blacksmith was a better fit for Heath Ledger and not much liking the actual love interest. The use of modern music was more off-putting than it was a brilliant…
One of if not my most favorite movie about medieval knights. I really like the direction they went with this film making it feel modern but the characters were stuck in the past in a way. Rock music is much appreciated, and the characters bounce of each other very well. 8.4/10 🗡️🐴
