jarodJul 19, 2019one day, after one of her concerts, dolly parton found a little boy crying by the doors of the venue. she wiped his tears away and told him to believe in his dreams, and that one day he’d inspire millions too. that little boy was karl marx.

This one goes out to my professor from last year who didn't go one class without letting us know that 'Nine to Five' was a perfect movie. You were right, Matt.
KarstenApr 23, 2017So, you've been tellin' everybody I've been sleepin' with ya, huh? Well that explains it! That's why these people treat me like some dime-store floozy. They think I'm screwin' the boss! Oooh, and you just love it, don't you? It gives you some sort of cheap thrill like…

MamaKizzle lovedNine to FiveIn honor of Dolly, my 20-year-old daughter and I decided to watch 9 to 5 together, since she had somehow never seen it, which honestly felt like a gap in her cultural education. 9 to 5 really said, “What if workplace oppression, sexual harassment, wage discrimination, and one absolutely rotten man…
Maddie lovedNine to FiveTHIS IS FEMINISM!!! Lol in all seriousness, you can never go wrong with Dolly. I am obsessed with her and this movie. It was hysterical, witty, and I love a good revenge fantasy. I cackled at the Snow White daydream! Such a classic!

Alex Ruppert is "meh" onNine to FiveThis is a fever dream of a movie. First off I never realized the song 9 to 5 was created for a movie. And I never expected this movie to be about 3 woman kidnapping their sexist bigot boss while they try to blackmail him because they almost killed him. All while working 9 to 5.

Never quite worthy of its stars, 9 to 5 nevertheless entertains because of what they bring: sheer will (Lily Tomlin), joie de vivre (Dolly Parton), and stamina (Jane Fonda).

Nine to Five is a good-hearted, simple-minded comedy that will win a place in film history, I suspect, primarily because it contains the movie debut of Dolly Parton. She is, on the basis of this one film, a natural-born movie star, a performer who holds our attention so easily that it's hard to believe it's her first film.

The three actresses make an attractive team, but neither the screenplay, by Colin Higgins and Patricia Resnick, nor the director, Mr. Higgins, uses them very effectively. It's clearly a movie that began as someone's bright idea, which then went into production before anyone had time to give it a well-defined personality.
