One of the best films for adults in recent years.

Refreshing to see an original script that’s not cliché and played by strong actors.

Loved the characters

A fine movie expressing the ups and downs of a dysfunctional family with all the ensuing dysfunctional relationships. Somehow this was left out of the movie trailers leaving me to expect an entirely different movie. Even with every stereotype shown in this film, I am still left feeling bamboozled.

I love think pieces! Makes you think about the content that sold to us! The message is packaged so gracefully especially communicating how we are pigeonhole into certain literary styles and genres

It was really funny. The message taught in the dialogue made sense. But the movie ended so close to the main conflict (which was the relationship issue), therefore I gave it 4 stars. I’d be willing to read the book. I like what Issa Rae’s character said during her argument with the main character. I learned something new.

Loved it!

Needed more psychology on the main character “Monk”. He seemed random in his response to life with no clear explanation. Loved the alternate ending options!

The satire isn’t as brutal as it could have been — and perhaps needed to be — but overall, I thought “American Fiction” was a rousing success that got me thinking about my own experiences.
