Goofs

  • During the school play, Jaguar says when he grows up he wants to "find tax exemptions" and therefore be "an Actuary". While an actuary's primary job function is to assess financial and other risks, finding tax deductions in order to minimize financial losses is a part of their job. (Leaving aside, of course, that this is a small child talking about his dream job. Factual accuracy can be a bit erratic.)

The biggest strength of Zootopia is in how it acknowledges all identities are capable of carrying prejudice and wielding judgement, yet the first step toward change is awareness.

Though it never gets too preachy, the film delivers its message about the dangers of stereotyping quite clearly and draws parallels with instances of everyday racial prejudice among humans.

Boasting a pitch perfect voice cast led by a terrific Ginnifer Goodwin as a righteous rural rabbit who becomes the first cotton-tailed police recruit in the mammal-centric city of Zootopia, the 3D caper expertly combines keen wit with a gentle, and very timely, message of inclusivity and empowerment.
