Moviegoers are saying
This polarizing musical spectacle has audiences either completely enchanted or thoroughly exhausted, with Jonathan Bailey's magnetic performance stealing every scene he's in. While critics debate the 160-minute runtime for what's essentially half a story, fans are already camping out for Part 2, and 'Defying Gravity' in IMAX is being hailed as a transcendent cinematic experience.

Near the end, though, “Wicked” does surge to a kind of life.

By the end, you won’t quite be levitating off your seat but you’ll definitely be enchanted enough to stream the soundtrack on the way home. Funny, colourful and full of empathy for outsiders, this film really is the Shiz.

The movie drags at times, evidence that the too-generous 160-minute running time adversely affects pacing without resulting in a better-defined, deeper storyline.
