The portrayal of Hana is beginning to feel somewhat dated; for 2003, having a transgender character in film at all was groundbreaking just for sheer lack of representation up until that point, but in 2018, the narrative often feels like it's using Hana as comedic relief.…

My personal favourite comfort movie to watch every Christmas. It’s funny yet touching at the same time, with a trio of well written protagonists. They use irony and jokes to face the harsh reality and the brutality of a world that sees them as ghosts, at best. Please, watch it! 🙏

“I want to get rid of some trash. I don’t think I’d fit.” A very weird movie. But it has its charm to it. Very funny in a dark humor type of way. But also there is a lot of deeper meaning to find in here. Wish I knew Japanese so I didn’t have to watch it in subtitles.
A totally original Christmas tale that is truly all its own. So many emotions wrapped into one. Gorgeous animation. Beautiful score. Typical Satoshi Kon W. Make watching it a holiday tradition and pass it down through the family for years to come.

It's a touching movie that, like the best animes, transcends the limitations of the genre.
With its masterful grasp of comedy, pathos, social commentary and mystical weirdness, Tokyo Godfathers takes anime to a whole new level.
