This film is so unlike anything I've seen Hollywood churn out recently that I was genuinely staggered. You have to concentrate. Hard. For the entire film. Alfredson gives you no easy routes, and you find yourself crossing your eyes in frustration. Is this a flashback? Is…
SachaSep 30, 2019"It was an aesthetic choice as much as a moral one. The West has grown so very ugly, don’t you think?" Bureaucratic barbarism, an empire on its deathbed, a movie about how state espionage is as tedious and soul-sucking as it is impotent and grisly. There are no more morals…

This seems like it’s probably a four-star movie, but I didn’t understand any of it.
Dan Ryckertlove this boring movie so much
fran hoepfnerJul 26, 201794 "The spy sub-genre frequently acts below its material. Gadgetry and the thrill of espionage — chases, gunfights, assassinations — is preferred to the slum of work, the intensity of mistrust, and the mundanity of keeping the world safe. The genre, at least, is unaware…

I mean I could tell this is technically a good film. It’s extremely well-made and god the performances along with the cast are beyond brilliant, however I just found the plot really hard to follow and ultimately didn’t find it engaging at all. Maybe I missed something that…

comrade_yuiMay 18, 2012Very slow pace, hard to follow, it put me off. It was difficult to capture my attention in some scenes. Talented cast, performances were fine. I really wanted to like it more, but the pacing is just absolutely painful.

Absolutely phenomenal, despite the GLACIER slow pace. A complete palate cleanser of “modern pacing”, where there’s no need for subtlety. Most people will think this is a complete waste of time, and that’s a fair assessment. If you’re willing, watch this multiple times over again.
I love a good slow burn, but this was so slow it almost put me to sleep in the theatre. Oldman will forever be remembered for any performance other than this. How can a spy movie be so boring?

A fascinating and tense spy thriller that keeps you guessing. I found it a bit confusing at times but overall it keeps you guessing and has a great gritty tone
I get the appeal but it was just too chaotic and confusing for me. The ending felt like it came out of nowhere and raised more questions than answers.

Definitely a better movie if you watch it in one sitting. Much harder to follow if you try to watch it over a few days.
Excellent film malgré quelques soucis niveau scénario qui perdent le spectateur si on est pas bien accroché

It's just as accurately described as a bunch of British guys sitting around acting. But what actors! The cast includes Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Mark Strong,Ciarán Hinds and Toby Jones.
The screenplay, by Peter Straughan and his late wife, Bridget O'Connor, is debonair. Alfredson's mastery of tone and ambiance is flawless. The bloodletting is brief and necessarily appalling, the comedy mordant: I guarantee you will never sing along to Mr. Woo in quite the same way again.
I had to see the new version twice to realize that there's so much to appreciate about this multilayered production.
