Wow! Talk about an unexpected point of view of folklore and mythology! As one who took these courses as electives, I must say I was hooked the moment I found out the mythology connection and how it subtly carried through the film. What a great way to start my birthday month! 10s across the board! Outstanding debut! Congratulations to the director, cast and production.
I was trying so hard to stay awake.
Great.
such a great movie. so many twists. it's a movie u really have to pay attention too which I love.
Interesting twist to the story. A must see. Dakota Fanning is excellent.
Loved It, loved the twist
Good Movie, right set. Could of added more detail with the forest
Awesome and scary
Not scary enough. Kinda confusing.
By far the worst movie I’ve ever seen
Good flick from Shyamalan clan. Interesting take on existing lore.
Movie was so good until the ending. Some parts were really cool but that ending was disappointing
The Plot was OK if a little contrived. Slow spots with glimpses of the “monsters”. Drags a bit in the middle. Horrible ending.
Very well paced. Thought out explanations and folklore explained. Fresh take on old stories. Clapping and watching again on video
This is not a good movie. The plot is so dumb. Good acting, but this is not worth watching.
Metacritic
There are plenty of things that go bump in the night. “The Watchers” proves they’re only effective if you don’t sleep through them.

Ironically for something titled The Watchers, this production lacks the basic quality of watchability.

Even with its drawbacks, I found “The Watchers” worth watching, even with its odd (and perhaps too faithful to the book) final 15 minutes. The director works well with cinematographer Eli Arenson to envelop the chamber-sized ensemble in various shades of dread, or comfort.
