natalieApr 8, 202165 This is one gnarly genre exercise, which morphs from a 'dumb American tourists' survival thriller to a 'killer plant' splatter fest. Gorgeously shot by DP Darius Khondji, The Ruins is lean and basically trimmed of anything extraneous, and it features a likeable…

More than anything, this uncompromisingly grim horror film reminds me of the best segment in the anthology CREEPSHOW 2, entitled "The Raft," in which a group of friends taking a swim in a secluded lake find themselves trapped on a raft, surrounded, and preyed upon by an…

It was a decent movie, not my favorite type of horror. I feel like they could’ve expanded more scenes inside of the ruins. I also really disliked all the characters, they were incredibly dumb and it physically pained me.
im currently watching it and its so bad omfg blonde girl is kinda cunty (se calhar porque parece a ricky d h2o)

This movie freaked me out when I was little. Now older and having watched a couple more times it still makes me uncomfortable
Geisteskranke Szenen manchmal.

Perfect 2000s horror🥺 I do wish they could've explored the ruins a bit more but I suppose the horror comes from the unknown! A fave I always come back to. (BTW this movie has 2 diff endings! Search up on yt) each one completely changes the tone of the movie so it depends!
Unsettling but way too weird for my liking. I was missing backstory to know more about the ruins curse and characters were plain, basic, even frustrating. It's not that bad, but it's not the kind of horror movies I'm into. I'm not sure if I would recommend it.

The Ruins is, with one major caveat, about as good an adaptation of Scott Smith's bestselling novel as Hollywood was ever going to make.
Ultimately less dependent on suspense or even scares than on squirm-inducing grossouts, this tale of Yank hardbodies vs. carnivorous creepers should flower briefly in hardtops, then spread like an invasive weed in ancillary.
