Black Swan but instead of ballerinas, it’s boys at a water polo camp… extremely realistic portrayal of bullying in an all boys environment
enri ツ ꩜🧪Dec 27, 2025gross, tense, smart, and hilarious—which i didn't expect. like, loud guffaws at the ifc. less expected still: one of the most memorable club scenes in recent memory
Hari NefMay 16, 2025Ok. I am biased. So biased that I had come on here and write my first review (maybe. I don't recall writing others) Up front: my son is one of the boys in this film. I won't say which one. Of course, I'm new to this, so maybe my name is visible and I'm stupid. Either…

"And it's shame because I really like Les Mis"
jgrossanoMay 16, 2025Wow this really brought me back to middle school bullying culture. The performances were excellent and the bully (excellent portrayal from Kayo Martin) was strikingly realistic. Charlie Polinger’s direction is gripping throughout. I feared it would veer too far into…
Brother BroJan 5, 2026An excellent and well-crafted idea that fully conveys a constant sense of anguish and unease. The cinematography is excellent, the soundtrack is well used and the underwater shots are surprising. It may be a bit repetitive at times and it's not that interesting throughout…

If Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Cheese Touch was a psychological horror movie. Loved some of the cinematography in this. Some beautifully framed poolside shots and some very cool upside down underwater sequences. All-time pep-talk from Joel Egerton when Ben is desperately…
Kevflix And ChillJan 4, 2026there are moments where i had to pause because it felt too real… i dont care what other people say, surviving middle school is an achievement in and of itself.

7.7 - I don’t know if it’s a “horror” but it is pretty damn upsetting. I think anyone who lands in the boring and slow camps probably didn’t experience summer camps or much bullying as a kid. It’s absolutely not one I “like” but it is very well shot, scored, & written. It’s for sure a bit artsy or…
This movie currently has 100% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes which is absolutely unbelievable. Was expecting a coming-of-age horror, but it’s more of a psychological thriller. Not boring, certainly confusing. No way every critic has had positive things to say

Very effective in portraying the horror of societal rejection and loneliness, but in doing so is also not very rewatchable for me
Waste of my time. I was bored from the beginning. Waited for the big moment to happen and literally nothing happened.

Polinger’s film isn’t a comfortable watch and it’s not meant to be. It gets under the skin.
The Plague is what remains if you strip most of the actual horror out of a horror movie, but keep the fear. The tension gets so thick you could cut it with a knife. Then it goes beyond that; you’d need something stronger, and sharper.
The Plague is vividly, terrifying attuned to the way children create a social order that resists sensible adult intrusion and influence.
