Atom User Reviews for The Mummy (2017)
Fun movie. Definitely worth seeing. Lots of action, and a few laughs.
If you want to see Tom Cruise do cardio then this is the movie for you!
Good movie though it is hard to follow wonder woman!
Got kicked out Cause some dumb butt pulled the Fire Alarm
Movie was good in terms of this being the first of many to come. But when looked at the movie alone, plot is not well sought out. Especially, the ending could've been better.
Alright
Many unanswered questions. Just ok
It was ok

It was a fun movie, definitely setting up for an extended universe series or at least a sequel.
Felt shorter than it said
loved it..
wish it were more scary. not a bad movie though. hope there is an actual sequel or related movies in the future of the franchise.
While the special effects are commendable, the story is not. In the end, the story even contradicts itself. A potentially good cast was brought together for a movie that was unworthy of them. Some will even find it insulting. I tried to enjoy it as a lover of movies, but this one left very little for me to love about it.
CGI was not great and not enough story very weak
Had they just made a mummy movie and not added their Dark Universe storyline, it would have been better. Tom Cruise is definitely miscast.
Horrible movie!
I just don't know what really happened. I was left with lots of questions..... but it probably has a potential to be a good series
Was a fun movie!
Fun to look at, started out nicely, and then goes to super confusing and dumb in about 0.5 seconds.
I did not like the end of a movie.
Great tone for a reboot, looking forward to the next offering
nothing special
I am a Mummy Movie fan, this is an awesome addition to that collection
Hopefully there's more to come ❤️
I really enjoyed the movie it was actually pretty good
Took awhile to get into the action scenes. Had good action scenes, but wasn't too impressed. This is a type of movie you could wait until it's out in DVD.
It surprised me with how good it was
tom cruz was great always pulls it off was worried but i like him in the film great choice
Wish it was longer with a deeper plot but I loved it .
Amazing movie. I was caught off guard, great plot very well thought out script I loved it I would go see it again!
Better than the other mummy moves
Not what I expected but it was good
nice job at a new cinematic universe start up. hope it does well enough to warrant more movies in the "dark universe"
Really like how the movie is setting up a different "future universe" outside of Marvel/Capcom
Not as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely a popcorn, turn your brain off movie.
Corny
Same Tom Cruise movie different situation
waiting for part 2
Awesome movie.
Started out ok, but then it was all talk, just made the movie boring because nothing barely happened after the first act. They had to keep repeating how the mummy has plans, she's after tom cruise, she won't stop, all that stuff. Nonstop flashbacks and daydreaming/visions made up most of the movie. But it's interesting, just a bit confusing and repetitive. Decent to see on tv, but they could've done much more with this as far as starting the dark universe as best as possible.
New take on the tale of the Mummy. Tom Cruise,Annabelle Wallis, and Sofia Boutella were great. Love Jake Johnson, but Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll takes the cake.
I liked it
The film did not live up to the previous mummy films. Nothing new was introduced it was just a mummy switch. MumSwap. There was no showmanship. I was unamused.
not what I expected. a definite new twist.
Thought the movie was pretty good. Just wasn't as high speed and interesting as the original films. Good flick though.
great movie
At the beginning it had potential and then it went horribly wrong. don't waste your money
It was a fun summer movie. Nothing super original. One interesting factor is the movie leaves the plot open to more than just a mummy.
We needed the cast from the other mummy movies it would have been much better
Metacritic
The Mummy is not your usual lousy movie. It has been made with skill and hits its marks. But those marks are so low and so brazenly mercenary that it doesn’t feel like much of an achievement. It’s not involving.
A movie that goes beyond defying comprehension to being truly incomprehensible.
Ultimately, and perhaps most disappointingly, The Mummy winds up being not so much its own movie as what, by the end, feels like the first episode of a show that's already been renewed for several seasons. Because, in some respects, that's what it is.
