Very enjoyable affordable opera experience
Queen of the Night NAILED it. Puppets were fabulous, Papageno was comic, sets were delightful.
Have the DVD too, but like the big screen in the movie theater.
"An absolute visual delight, even with the change in the storyline but the music was richly delivered.
Wonderful opera production. Unfortunately, the staff where I saw this were unable to start the broadcast on time. A delay of about an hour decreased our enjoyment considerably.
Gloriously entertaining with all the magical fictitious characters and outstanding opera stars.
the english translation was interesting, but not my favorite. I loved that i could see the opera at a reasonable price. I will def see more in this series.
Beautiful production. However, very very dark in the projection. Most background detail was lost....as this production is known for the visuals, not a good thing. Had the same problem earlier this year with a Fathom Events showing of Vertigo. If Kim Novak had not been wearing the white coat in the Sequoia forest scene, the screen would have been blank. The theatre said that they could do nothing because that was the print they were sent.
Very creative set and costumes with wonderful music and vocalists.
The scene of the Queen's evil doings being vanquished has been deleted entirely, which ruins the storyline. After the Queen makes a deal with the dirty bird to betray the King, the editing takes you abruptly to the final to scenes. Very unsatisfying omission, yet the music was wonderful
I absolutely LOVED this performance. I can't wait to see La Traviata!
I hated that it was translated and dreadfully bowdlerized. It was unrecognizable.
Absolutely wonderful!
