Superbly talented cast!
Great chunks of the Bard's text were set to very modern, atonal music. Not a melody to hear, but powerful drama and acting by the entire cast. A completely innovative direction for opera to take. Great to watch, but I'd never play the CD.
The drama and acting were wonderful and same as the typical Met Opera. However, we did not appreciate the music because it was not operatic. Go Horatio - the only one who actually stayed alive.
Music, emotional, powerful. On the edge of my seat even though the story is familiar. The acting was outstanding...felt a part of the story. Not your typical opera... By any means...worth seeing.
