Atom User Reviews for The Metropolitan Opera: Boris Godunov
Loved being back in the theater for Live in HD
clearly not an attempt to provide an unedited uncritical version of one of the really great operas
Good production made the early Mussorgsky version interesting.
I missed the interviews with the cast since there were no intermissions. Sitting for 2 1/2 hours without a break is too long.
Great production, wonderful singing. Rene Pape as Boris was magnificent.
What was the Met thinking? Bad enough to unearth the first version, but then to play it without intermission? Rimsky-Korsakov got it right with his edition.
Though often shown as extended version, this production was was taut and fascinating, even though without a break
Terrific in all respects!
A Sad Story very well told.
intermission free and well produced . Cast was excellent.
